Good luck to him. To many busy body Parish Council knobs, that object to everything, just for the sake of it, and the power trip.

Building regs ? Building up to the boundary
Big Jimbo replied to LindfieldRes's topic in House Extensions & Conservatories
I did one in lead about 30 mt long, and it cost me a bloody fortune. -
Why is so much plumbing stuff such utter rubbish?
Big Jimbo replied to ProDave's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
Bosch, i believe, is now all made in UAE. Tools in the last 25 years have become much cheaper, just like washing machines, dishwashers etc. Most beople, i believe, would no longer consider getting a washing machine repaired if it is over a couple of years old. £200 will buy you a new one. You can buy a new combi boiler for £400. Things have got much cheaper. On the basis that they are made to a price point (Crap) -
I can't help with the engineering side, but i have used timber i beams lots of times. I personally would dump all the steels i could, and go with the timber.

Fab, handy little tool. I bought a bosch, but it used to eat the batteries, so bought a corded Makita. Do love the corded Makita, and it comes with a very long lead.

I would be more than happy to run a towel over her all day long.

Had one in a posh house i worked on. step out of the shower, dance around a bit. 30 seconds later, you are dry. Bit like a big hand dryer in the ceiling.
-
Or have a flush mounted ceiling high powered fan. Out of shower, stand under. No towel needed. Proper posh.

Do it 200mm wide tall jobie will work wonders, and your manhood will thank you.?

I feel your pain. When i ran my kitchen company for 20 years, i got to the point of never doing wood worktops in a kitchen. Whoever thought that wood was a good idea in a kitchen !!!! The other thing to try, is a local French polisher, who will be able to remove/ hide the stains. Then get them properly sealed. Don't start sanding them. You would be surprised how deep they will go.

A huge shed like that can be every bit as good as a trad build, but perhaps not worth as much for re-sale.

I would have a small electric curtain heater above the door. I don't like being in the nuddy without heat. It just don't show me off to my best ?

*0mm is bloody tight for a nice fluffy towel. I hope you are well insulated, i have always found that a towel rail as the only source of heat to be a bit rubbish when covered withb a towel.

When i bought my property, i had an opening from my front garden to my road. A B road 30mph. There was no gate. I made it wider to about 14ft, and did a proper crossover, of the ditch to the highway. I then put up a pair of 5 bar gates. Now i want to put a couple of nice big high gates up. First problem is, who owns the verge/ditch. me or the council. The council dont know, and neither do i. Now if i own the land between me and the road, my gates will be about 5 mt from the tarmac road. If the council own say the first 2 mt of the verge, my gates will be 3mt from the council verge. Looking at the permitted devl rules, if i want to do gates higher than 1 mt adjacent to the highway i will need permission. What i am trying to find out is what will be considered "adjacent" distance wise. I have read an appeal judgement, where the judge stood on the council land, reached out his arm, and could not touch the gate. he said the tall gates were fine, as they were not adjacent to. Unfortunately, on another appeal, where the gates were set back 4.6 mt the judge ruled that they were adjacent, and therefore needed permission. I would rather not have to go for permission, as the parish council object to everything, which in turn means that all applications have to go to committee. and takes bloody 6 months. Anybody got any wise words ?????? Please.

I think you would need Building Regs approval, unless you are not connected to the mains. (septic tank)

There were a lot of those. Jobs for life, until it wasn't. -
Not very exciting, but due to the nice weather I finally got my rubber roof stuck down, and the edge trim put around. Once I fit the plinth (no materials) that will be the outside finished. Wired up the inside ( no supply yet) but 18 double sockets. 11 internal lights. Power for oven and hob. Extractor power. TV ariel. Cat 6 and more that I have already forgotten. ?

Zoot the Hoot. Walls, and ceiling look the biz fella. Well done.

Warnings of COVID Power Cuts
Big Jimbo replied to Ferdinand's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I think i might dig mine out of the lock up and fire it up, just incase. Atleast i could use it to power the gas boiler, cooker, and a couple of lights, and t.v. -
Or not !

It looks amazing. What a great job, when faced with such adversity, ( shite instructions ) you are doing

I think a multi tool will be hard work, slipping ect. I would prob go for a series of small drill holes, going larger to link them, and then file it out...... Ok. Ok. I would bin the lock. Who needs that level of privacy

Temporary foul drainage: what's wrong with this plan....
Big Jimbo replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Waste & Sewerage
I would do exactly that. propping the poo pipe with bricks as ness to ensure fall. -
I feel you pain. I would have launched that thing down the bloody garden by now.
