Knauf aquapanel under Karndean floor
Grosey replied to JanetE's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Has anybody laid Karndean as a DIY job? Can't be that hard can it? Everything I see written about it always seems to be done by a professional installer -

Credit/Debit Reward Cards, Discounts etc
Grosey replied to Ferdinand's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Thanks for mentioning this @Ferdinand I am about to place the order for a b and q kitchen for our utility. I'm pretty sure my employer (BT) has a gift card purchase scheme.- 151 replies

If anybody has any photos of ikea hacked PAX wardrobes fitted under a sloping ceiling I'd be keen to see, as I've just placed my ikea order to do exactly that. Any pointers / advice appreciated.

I could not not agree more, I can honestly say the hardest part of self building I've found so far is getting people to take my wads of cash that I have waiting in return for work. I could name 20-30 suppliers of various products/services that I've had in depth conversations with about work, then left it awaiting them to come back to me with various quotes or further info etc, or even in some cases to book in a date for the work - never hear from them again, even if I chase them up I just don't get anywhere. I was was starting to think it was me! Like you say there must just be so much demand for the limited supply. Customer service just goes out of the window in the building industry it seems.

This definitely exists, watching that 24 hours in custody programme on channel 4, they often show security camera footage inside the prison cell. Just over the area of the toilet is a small black square to offer some privacy, this is obviously software based and not a physical thing in the cell. An an example from google -

Crikey, thats going to be stunning! Daren't ask how much...

I know what you mean, it doesn't slap on like a mist coat, my understanding is that your first coat is just that, a mist and first coat in one. So you have to put it on as if you were "decorating" the wall. I don't know to be honest, as I said the wife used to work for them so swears by it, I'm tempted to give the Leyland slap it on quick method a go - but she's chief painter and I hate decorating so really it's whatever makes her happy ?

Im tending to agree, 3mm Ply and piece of mind, or trust BAL Super Flex tile adhesive which is an expensive bag of science that I'll probably never understand. Cost wise likely to be little in it vs buying ply and a cheaper adhesive. The floor build up is a worry though.
-
Hi, just resurrecting this thread as I have the exact same issue. Is any particular timing adhesive required to tile directly on to the weyroc flooring?

I was was thinking perhaps a larder sized end panel?

I'm looking for bare sheets of material I can use to make custom wardrobe doors to go in the eaves of a room in roof. White gloss. I know howdens kitchen doors are probably an option but wondering if there were any cheaper options or online suppliers? Don't want to go as cheap as melamine, but something along those lines.
-
Hard to say due to the nature of the room in roof that we are currently painting, funny angles and wardrobe sections etc. 5L got 1 coat pretty much all over that bedroom in the photo which is approx 5m x 6m x 2.4m - this includes the ceiling. We will probably be sticking to this stuff now, I've said to her if it's 10L per room at £24 to a fully decorated finish then I'm happy. Quick calculations suggest we are probably around the 10m2/L I think - which seems acceptable? Will be easier to give feedback back on the coverage when we are out of the roof and in to the bigger open plan sections downstairs. If I forget to post a reply feel free to give me a nudge if anyone is interested?

Thats the stuff, a smidge cheaper if you have a Tradepoint card too. No point trying to shop around either as Valspar is only available at B&Q.

I'll be doing a couple of coats myself this evening so I'll report back with first hand experience. So far it is all her handiwork but she seemed to get it going on ok. I feel if we can get away with 2 coats of this over the whole house it would be a false economy to use anything else.
-
Valspar trade contract matt - this is 1 coat directly on to new plaster, not watered down. Also suitable as top coat. (Mrs used to work for Valspar and insisted on it, I had doubts, had to eat my hat!) £24 for 10L

I bought this set - [HD 1080P] ANNKE 4CH 1080P POE NVR Max Up to 5.0MP Security Camera Systems One 1TB HDD Included, with 4 x 1080P 2.1Megapixels HD Day/Night Vision IP67 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H2RD9QU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_BTB3bXqxkWep2 Quite impressed so far but haven't really got in to the deeper settings to see what it can really do. After just 24 hours I had caught all sorts - the neighbour having a good snoop and pinching a empty dumpy bag, 2 little scallywags having a wander around, and 2 of my wife's friends flashing the cameras as they didn't think they were live hahaha

Thanks Jeremy, I had searched the forum previously and read all your extensive posts on your bamboo flooring. The durability is a big factor for us - we are particularly concerned about scratches from the dogs claws as he runs about - don't suppose you have a dog or could borrow one, chase him about and could report back? ? Is it it correct that the strand bamboo can be laid directly over UFH as it is essentially an engineered floor? One of the products I was looking at was a 190mm board and was a typical engineered plank with a stranded bamboo on top of layers of ply - do you think this is due to the width of the board? https://www.bambooflooringcompany.com/all-flooring/underfloor-heating-flooring/engineered-carbonised-strand-woven-190mm-uniclicr-bona-coated-bamboo-flooring.html

Hi, starting to look at flooring for the majority of our open plan area. Options are - Engineered Real Wood Bamboo Laminate? Question is should I be considering putting laminate in at all in an approx 75m2 area, house value likely to be £400k+ in Cornwall. Has laminate moved on from years ago making it a viable option, or does it all still look cheap an awful and I should just remove it from my list?

i have these doors, I know it's not exactly what you need and an off the shelf solution it is not, but they do lift and slide such as the van door you are suggesting. Maybe worth speaking to Velfac to see if they could help you? Idealcombi also do a pretty much identical door.
-
Yeah, randomly stumbled across them. Browsing the rest of the site looks like they have a lot of good items at reasonable items. If I end up buying I'll do another post on the quality.

Thanks all, will call BCO on Monday and pick his brains, will report back for anyone else who may be interested. Meanwhile I have found these - http://www.diytimberpacks.com/pre-primed-wood-30-minute-fire-door-liner-square-stop.php?cat=33 which means the Howdens fire linings I have bought at £60 a piece will be going straight back!
