My second query is a general approach or tips for installing the stuff? I need to cover the lounge/diner area, as well as the hallway and WC. I’ll be laying lengths front to back from balcony doors to read bifolds. My worry is regarding starting to sqew away from Square, however I guess if Use packers along the back wall and then T&G each board tight this should be impossible? I could also do with advice on transitioning oak to tile? Also any tips for laying the oak around the stairwell? (Plan is to lay the oak then install the stairs - is this correct?) 1st Floor Plan A1.pdf

Just requested a delivery date for my oak flooring so I now need to start to pull together my plan for getting it down. I have several questions but I’ll start with this one - Which adhesive is recommended and also where to buy from? It’s being laid on to a 1st floor liquid screed. My supplier has recommended this on a BOGOF deal - https://www.woodandbeyond.com/products/recoll-silanblock-adhesive-15-kg-ac162.html

I saw some tiles in a showroom the other day that basically mimicked this. Small round copper metallic mosaics, much easier to work with!

I usually just have a mug of water and dunk it every 30secs or so, the hole ends up moist most of the time but it's not exactly underwater as per your method. Was the glue down method for the Bath brackets not an option then? Not sure quite how strong CT1 is?

This - http://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-diamond-tile-drill-bit-6-x-67mm/51908 It does work but approx 20mins per hole, I've already drilled 22 holes in the previous en suite during second fix and I'm losing the will to live haha! I used the tilers diamond core bits whilst he was on site and they took a similar amount of time.
-
@Nickfromwales would CT1 also be suitable for bonding down the brackets of a freestanding Bath? Drilling the porcelain tiles is really starting to kill me! I see CT1 also do a specific grab and bond version?

Which manufacturers would you be recommending?

Kesseler Kitchens is an option that is currently being discussed. Any thoughts info or opinions on them? Particularly how they compare cost and quality wise to the major German companies?
-
I believe intoto as a group are looking to sign to a new manufacturer, I am waiting to find out who that manufacturer is and the delivery timescales for my new kitchen. At that point I'll decide on whether to stick with them or take my money and run. They are a fairly large group, and the branches are independently owned (or so I understand), but I do need to understand what will happen to my warranty etc if the intoto group was to disband, but the Exeter showroom was to continue perhaps under another name / as an independent.

We have decided to go for this method and I need to get a bottle of gas. Any advice, Calor / Flo Gas / Propane / Butane...? I clearly don't know a great deal about LPG! Also what size bottle, I'll need to run the heating for 5-10 days I guess so I'd imagine one of the big approx 5ft bottles?

It's not too bad for us as I paid a UK showroom which is an entirely separate company, they are offering to source me another kitchen from a new manufacturer or they have said I can just have a full refund. But it was paid by credit card so I should also have that level of protection.
-
I must say they have been excellent throughout this offering me several options for how to resolve. Including removing a showroom kitchen to fit temporarily whilst the issues are resolved. I'm yet to decide how we are going to proceed though.

Yeah I too found articles going back to July when I started googling the situation. The whole thing is a bit odd and apparently there is just a complete lack of communication with anyone from ALNO explaining what is happening. Im buying from a showroom in Exeter who deal with ALNO UK. My kitchen must be built and on a pallet somewhere as it was still on track for delivery last week right up until Monday when all this news came my way.
-
We were informed this week that my kitchen would no longer be delivered on Friday ready for fitting on Monday as ALNO Germany have gone in to administration. The showroom (intoto) have £5k deposit of ours and are currently exploring options for resolving the situation. Just thought I'd post a heads up in case anyone else is looking at becoming involved in ALNO, I'd steer clear as there's likely to be troubled waters ahead.

Thats really good advice, thank you. What colour silicone do you usually go for on the back & side of the pan? White to match the pan or coloured to match the unit/furniture?
-
If this is an option people recommend I'd happily go with it, as those brackets really were a pain in the ass to fit, and then putting the screws in the sides was kicking the pan about in various different ways depending which screwhole it found - that was my original problem here. It also means I can avoid having to drill my porcelain tiles again which is another chore!

Haha to be continued... got a few quotes that have made my eyes water. I'll probably resurrect my other post shortly looking at alternatives to stainless.

We had our first outdoor light switch on last week, it was a strangely exciting time even though its of very kittle importance! Yours look like they kick out a good amount of light?

I was wondering myself how I'd made such a cockup on the wall, and if my floor was out by that much I'd have been in big trouble before now!
-
I fixed it, in the past few hours I have removed the tiles, taken down the stud partition, levelled up the wall, Re-boarded, retiled, regrouted, refitted the toilet to now only have a 2-3mm gap to seal... (Either that or I realised it was me being daft) ? P.S - side fixing toilet brackets are a weird bastard of a thing, hopefully I'll have the hang of it by the 7th toilet in this house! P.P.S - thanks buildhub, sometimes just posting your ridiculous problem is enough to help make you think about it enough to solve it!
-
I've ended up with this situation, wall not quite upright I believe, anyway it is what it is and now needs to be snagged. CT1 or any better ideas? also what colour would look tidiest here? White to match pan or black to match the unit? And no the level is not upright before anyone says

Where do you call deepest Devon? I'm in Saltash, just over the bridge from Plymouth.

Ive guessed a few of your details, but have a play around with the stair builder and you can see your quote in real time. http://www.stairbox.com/stairbuilder-staircase-designer/?dmVyc2lvbjIuMy11ay0yNzAwLTEzLTIzMC42Ny04NjUtODY1LTg2NS1sZWZ0LXF1YXRlcl9zcGFjZS1ub25lLTNfd2luZGVyLTYtTmFOLWxlZnQtZnVsbC1MQnVsbG5vc2UtbWRmLXNxdWFyZS0wLTAtMC0wLTAtcGluZS1tZGYtcGluZS1waW5lLXBpbmUtYXNzZW1ibGVkLWNvbGxlY3RlZC0tZmFsc2UtMS0wLTAtMS0wLW5vbmUtMC0wLTEtMC1ub25lLTAtMS0wLTEtMC0xLTAtMC0wLTEtMC0wLTAtMS0wLTAtMC0xLTAtc2luZ2xlLTAtMC0wLTAtU1RELS1mYWxzZS1TcXVhcmVTcGluZGxlLTQxLTE0MC01OC0wLTA=

I'll probably have 2 howdens staircases for sale in the coming weeks. Located in Plymouth. Failing that have you you looked at stairbox? Depends on your definition of cheap I suppose, at least you'd get the sizes and the bullnose you require.
