  1. I’ve got some very dumb questions if someone could help. I have a 6k array feeding an non hybrid inverter and that’s it currently. I contacted a local supplier to get a quote for some battery storage and they wanted to replace the inverter with a hybrid which given it’s only a year old seems not very good. As I under these squirrel pods are AC to 48v converters and sit after the inverter. I have some basic questions about this sort of setup: - How does the pod know when to draw electricity when we are generating vs just drawing off the grid? - If we are not consuming any power will the batteries start supplying towards the grid or does it’s just equal out? - I don’t have fit payments, but I would/should get permission from the DNO to have this setup? Why is that? - On this thread there is talk of Emergency supply with some units . I have a generator socket which I could plug in during a power supply issue (quite possible this winter given the situation). Given generators sin waves can be choppy as hell should I be trying to isolate solar equipment? - At some point in the future I will be owning a EV car. How could I have a system that basically charges the battery storage first, then the car before pushing it out to the grid. Do I need an all in one system or can I add this ‘logic’ later? many thanks for any pointers
  2. Strange looking barn that. What’s was it built for do you know ? . Are you in the UK?
  3. Its a single cassette type unit which lives above our en-suite room and is pipped into both with a single control in our bedroom. Cost £2200 + VAT installed, which I think is excellent value given the amount of work it took them to install. There are just a couple of vents high up on the walls which are quite discrete. i can't hear it at all, which is great compared to wall mounted units I've had in the past abroad
  4. Just thought I’d add for those who are still building: we put an AC unit in our house which is pipped into our bedroom and office (with 2.3k unit outside next to ASHP). By far the best thing I did - it just runs off the solar in the day and keeps both rooms at whatever temp I want . It was great walking into these rooms at 19c in the last heatwave just gone. I only wish I did the same for the kids rooms, but I had enough trouble persuading the Mrs about our room/office ( though she’s very happy now).
  5. I couldn't really say, other than it the latest. Supposedly web/API enabled but it appears to be only for Nibe as there is zero documentation.
  6. I have the same as you. This in conjunction with a SMO S40
  7. Ah interesting - mine is south facing as well.
  8. Nibe. It might be configurable I suppose
  9. Thanks. I'm in Norfolk - think they happened to be this way. Interestingly (and annoyingly), the pump has turned itself off with the following error "The heat pump is outside its working range. Start again when the outdoor temp has changed" So active cooling has its limits with ASHP in heatwaves at least with my unit. 38 outside here at the moment
  10. So the installers has just popped over and configured it, so now working in 2 pipe mode. He has set the supply line to 18 degrees which seems high. I questioned him about this and he said any lower and you run the risk of condensation on tiles/under carpets. Seems very high to me. Just wondering what other people are running the temp at for cooling (UFH)?
  11. We had planned on going this, you will need a UV stable membrane behind. we ended up not doing it after seeing a couple of places that had been done in the past. Just no garantee the membrane will last and then the critters will move into your structure. We went with a slotted profile in the end
  12. Which Nibe unit do you have? I have a smo s40 unit but cannot see how to set to cool. I would really appreciate if you can share how you did it?
  13. Do what @Temp said - this will be the best way to prove the issue as this is your issue - loosing network packets due to bad line
  14. I meant MVHR vent
  15. yes forgot to say we have done that.
  16. Your island and roof height sounds similar to us. We have vaulted ceilings. We just don’t have an extractor. We did the same in the last house as well with normal height . I can’t say I’ve ever missed one in 10 years. With MVHR in this house any smell of gone within 10 mins. We put the vents above the island. Ugly things.
  17. Yes it was the g99 . My memory…
  18. I self installed a 6kw system via G98 . £3080 for materials plus 2 days labour for the non MSC sparky. No issues . Sparky just put his address in the G98.
  19. as someone who has lived in Le Rouret for 20 years I did find this insulting to the locals. Like any trade there are complete cowboys and some really good people just like the Uk - it’s no different at all. Perhaps learn the local language and little better , immerse yourself with the locally born and get recommendations like you would in the Uk…
  20. Building regs don’t need it but your planning department might make it a condition (mine did)
  21. I don’t have one
  22. where can I get more information about this?
  23. I’ve done this. It was a no brainier though I did already have a 7kW generator that I was using for power on the build in the early days
  24. So a month have gone and we still don’t have confirmation from HMRC. Getting worried now
  25. Is anything secure these days? With lithium powered grinders to power hydraulic bolt cutters it’s impossible to make anything secure. You can only stop the casual thief. First thing is to make it out of sight or hide it somehow so it doesn’t look like bikes are there. There are some good videos on YouTube reviewing chains etc so probably worth a watch and definitely wants to be bolted onto a concrete slab as already mentioned. Alarms are cheap these days so something than can alert you if you are in the house would be good.
