  1. Yes 100% if you want to tile
  2. Could you give me more information on this battery storage you are planning to use? I would like to get some for my solar but it’s not adding up currently but that seems ‘cheap’
  3. They made and fitted it. Here I quote the owner of the company: Unfortunately the doors are a flush system brush sealed and in heavy wind and rain like Sunday you will often find that it is heavier than the weather rating (brush will only hold out so much water) In this weather the system is designed to not allow water past the inner most outer wall of frame. There is nothing I can do to rectify it as it is not something to be rectified. And as expected in those kind of conditions the brushes will only hold out so much water . Basically where the frame meets the tile there is just a simple brush stuck on the tile - it's not partocularly air or water tight as you can see. The runners for the frame end about 3 inches short of the end of the frame and then there is a little plastic end cap that 'finishes' off the runner to the end to maintain some form of airtightness. However there is a gap of about 4mm. There is zero adjustment that can be done. This is where the wind is bubbling in I think. However its so tight to the floor I just cannot get to it. Its just a cr**ping design and sloppy manufacturing, and fitting. The is the window https://www.cortizo.com/en/sistemas/ver/93/cor-vision-plus-sliding.html however the website it out of date with the latest design which we have. They have been a nightmare since day one, been back countless times to fix countless issues. I will have to bodge something it seems. Reading into the definition: A quite look at this https://www.thermosolar.sk/wp-content/uploads/download/certifikaty/protokoly/TS300-TS250-TS500/Windspeed-to-Pressure-conversion-chart-23.9.11.pdf would suggest the winds we had at the weekend was around 150-200pa, so given these failed after a couple of hours (or at least thats when we noticed it), I don't think I have a leg to stand on (they are class 7A) First time in my life I've had windows that let water in. I thought I'd done my research, but there you go...
  4. They leak https://home.glasscubes.com/share/s/62dnn8e2pfi95qakbmotfgv0ib?12 They are mean to be Class 7A. Not sure I can name and shame the manufacture on here (Cortizo products are licensed out.)
  5. Don’t think we could do it still given the heat pump is needed to most in those dark months . Maybe. Question is where to buy affordable batteries that can store that? The maths doesn’t seem to add up for me.
  6. Have you really done you calculations on the 20k PV array.? I can’t see it generating enough power In the winter even with batteries, you’ll have to be very careful with your consumption which will be a pain. Also what about charging an EV car which as some point in the coming years you’ll need to do?
  7. I marked that wrong. I’m think 2x6. It’s actually 4.5m between the two out posts. I’m limited due to space - it’s no ideal as it means the car will protrude a little bit I was going to compensate a little by having the roof hanging over more at the front
  8. Thanks. The spans are 4.6m deep and 2 bays of 4m across. yes I’m always about over engineering everything I do generally ?
  9. So I’m about to build a double car port . I’ve already laid some post foundations with j bolts embedded in to secure to post brackets. I’m concerned that my design will not be strongman enough. I really really want to avoid braces across the front bays pure from a design point. The 2 sides and back can have as much bracing as needed. This will be vertically clad at some point in the future (with gaps to allow air through). I want to use stone gabion cages on the side sides as I’ve seen this before ans it looks great with the end design I have in mind and will make some other walls close by. The posts will go through these and bolted down to brackets in the foundations. My concern is from wind shear. Will it be strong enough as per this quick sketch? it will have corrugated tin roof. any thoughts? thanks
  10. Loooong time ago https://www.jpdetails.co.uk/history-of-automotive-detailing
  11. Ok found something https://www.ventana-usa.com/wp-content/uploads/Explaining-Residue-on-Glass.pdf CRL Sparkle and then Cerium Oxide if not as per my Amazon link it seems . I’ll let you know how I get on
  12. No yet. I don't think IPA will work TBH. I think I just need something abrastive like a old school jiff or this stuff perhaps. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prounol-Cerium-Oxide-Polishing-Solution/dp/B08BLT3BZK/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=1HDOI35SXVW0&dchild=1&keywords=glass+polish&qid=1635245392&sprefix=glass+polish%2Caps%2C160&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExV1pIVUNSMTcyTFgxJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzMwODgyMVIyVlBaQVgyMzJJViZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjc2MTE1MjlZSklVMUhXSUxLNCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= Just wanted to see if anyone knew 100% what works (or not). thanks
  13. Hello, On all our big sliders, when we get a morning condensation on the glass outside I see 4 sucker marks on each pane. Any recommendations how to remove these? Cleaning doesn't work. I was thinking glass polish like you get for car windows?
  14. So we sent the claim with Royal Mail next day special delivery signed before 12. And now they can't guarantee its arrived ?. They don't know where it is and presume that its delivered but delivery guy didn't scan. Call HMRC and they as of yet have not processed it. They are going to refund us like thats going to help. So now we have no idea if HMRC have it or not and now need to wait and call once a week to see if they have it. Our deadline for the claim is tomorrow ? We have a photocopy but god knows where this is going to go. 36K !! stressed......
  15. Bit of everything. The design on the sliders has some fundamental issues in terms of weather tightness IMO. Made for hot climates I think. Sloppy manufacturing for the Uk licensee. Sloppy installation from the installer.
  16. We went with aluminium 3G from cortizo Uk manufactured. They are lovely looking design and we got a great price. However the installation was a nightmare and had to return/get fixed several of the frames. They are not 100% airtight even though they are meant to be for the big frameless sliders (tight and are fine). The word cowboys spring to mind. I’ve got them to a point I’m reasonably happy for what we paid and got but I would never recommend them.
  17. So about to send off just super paranoid which courier to use. recommendations or are they all the same?
  18. I've got mostly Makita tools and a couple of Dewalt. I would not recommend Makita - I've had 2 brushless drills fail within 14 months of being new. Milwaukee if you can afford it or Bosche pro series seem better built when I've borrowed the builders gear. However there is a very large difference with a base drill say and the top of the line - the make is less important if we are talking Dewalt, Makita, etc
  19. I’m getting my porcelain tiles laid on a newly poured concrete slab I did last week. The tiler wants to out dita mat down under to stop water being pulled up from the ground to reduce chance of the tiles popping off In frost etc. Anyone heard of this been done outside ? I agreed to it as I have lots of dita left over anyhow but still seems a bit odd.
  20. Maybe it was 180m actually on reflection. Highest quote was 28K I shopped around a lot.
  21. What was they thinking. So much money thrown at that.
