  1. I completely agree... I have a 4kw ASHP that I did no calcs for and to be fair is woefully undersized for the job as it turns out. But I bought it cheap whilst drunk from ebay on a whim, a year before I fitted it. It’s perfect for my downstairs UFH, just too small for my rads upstairs (on very cold days upstairs is about 19*c tops). It also does my dhw with a bit of support from the immersion. My house is partly 300 year old stone and crud walls (no insulation), and partial new build (to basic building regs level of insulation). We have 2 lots of bifold doors, 3 patio doors, 2 chimneys, so the place is a little drafty (certainly compared to the builds on here). My total energy usage for a year is about 7000kwh. (My wife and I both work from home, and both my wife and daughter would like the house to be about 35*c if they had their way). So I guess I am saying that even in the ‘wrong’ type of house and being incorrectly sized, I still think it’s a great solution and would definitely do it again. I am however keeping an eye out for a higher kw unit to upgrade when I can.
  2. Nice one. It’s a great feeling when you’ve done something like this yerself ? Is there any reason why you have a mix of compression and solder fittings? Or was it just what you had kicking around. also how do you go about bleeding or draining it?
  3. What state is the roof in? I had the same scenario in the past where in only certain weather conditions water was getting into the top of the cavity due to old knackered felt, then escaping through a downstairs window header onto the internal windowsill
  4. Those non-grout grout lines look loads better than before. ?
  5. Just seen this on tv and wondered if anyone has seen one of their worktops in real life? I wonder if they are any good or just crap? https://www.quartzize.co.uk
  6. So as @daiking says you need an Apple ID to be running the iPad. It’s most likely your email address. If you go into setting it’s probably the top most thing you will see (note: I don’t have an iPad to hand to see if it’s the same as my phone). I guess if it’s been gifted to you by family they may have left it with their ID. In that case you will need their password and probably would want to do a complete factory reset and start again with your own Apple ID.
  7. ?? ffs this is going to be like your washing machine thread isn’t it. ?
  8. I don’t mean open chrome webpage. I mean download the app from the App Store. If you want to clear your cache and web history: Open the Settings app. Tap Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data. Tap "ClearHistory and Website Data" under the Safari tab in the Settings app. ... On the screen that pops up, choose Clear History and Data.
  9. Yes safari is the default, and to be fair it should be fine, but it’s worth checking. Try Google Chrome as suggested by @pocster
  10. If you double tap the home button, you should get a carrousel of the apps that are still open. You can then swipe up on them to close them.
  11. Maybe try a different internet browser to see if safari is where the issue is?
  12. Have you got 101 apps open? Close them all down (properly not just minimise them) and only have 1 open at a time to narrow down which app is slow. What app are you using to browse the internet ? Have you cleared the cache.
  13. That’s just the joy of doing the job yourself... you always see the errors, and look for them. Whereas if you get a ‘professional’ in you just look at the bigger picture and don’t notice the crap bits so much.
  14. Is that the one with the peep show window into the bathroom? ?
  15. To be fair your tiling looks spot on. Once you’ve grouted and put all the fixtures and fittings in I’m sure it will look great.
  16. If you opened all the boxes are there collections of patterns that match (have the same misalignment)? you could at least then group them into rows.
  17. The problems is, you are now never going to unsee this. ☹️
  18. Let’s have a guess... could be fun! ? campsite I reckon!
  19. Looks beautiful! ? can’t wait to see them in situ
  20. Going by my shower screen, I would definitely follow nicks advice and not do the inside... it just traps water then goes green when it can’t escape. Im now going to have to remove my screen and redo it.
  21. Yeah I turn it off every time we open the house up... trouble is I’m not always here and swmbo like to open up the house as much as possible but has no idea how heating works. Exactly... this is the thermal mass discussion that goes on regular here on the forum. It’s great for a steady constant temp but is slow to react and needs managing differently to ‘normal’ heating.
  22. Really? How would you got about retrofitting an in slab temp sensor? I can’t picture a way of doing that.
  23. Room temp can fluctuate easily kicking the heating in when not really required. For example, on a day when the air temp is lower than the stat (say 13*c outside and stat is 20*c) and we open up the bifold doors for an hour, the room temp drops and equals outside temp. But the floor doesn’t lose much temp in that time(still near 20*c). However the stat is calling for heat so the floor exceeds what’s needed to try and bring the room stat back up to target. So when we shut the doors the floor is at 24*c and then we have overshoot of temp in the room.
  24. I’ve just got a single zone for UFH (heated by ASHP) been in place for about 2.5 years now. I am thinking a slab sensor would have been a good idea. I will definitely do it next time.
