Yes Ditra is nearly -£200 per 30m2 Ardex is for timber floors 3 mil notched trowel Expensive But bombproof My wife stuck this down with flexi tile adhesive 5 mil notched Couldn’t wait for me I normally pay my tilers a fiver m2 But she’s getting nothing for jumping the gun 😁

Unless there is obvious cracking You won’t need matting If your installing a heating Matt You can put matting under it or insulated board But you can tile directly onto the self leveling

Filling the gap between soffit & outer skin brickwork
nod replied to Mikey's topic in General Construction Issues
You would normally set your brickwork so that you can sit the Soffit on th top and simply pin it down That wouldn’t restrict any movement Real balls up on the joinery side You shouldn’t be filling in with bits of foam Get you builder to sort it out I really hate these lame excuses about movement Adding bits of foam etc -
It’s Dura mat I normally use Ditra But my wife found this at £800 for seven rolls Which is nearly twice what pay for Ditra There a 5 mil build up once fixed

The builder should have built the brickwork higher Or packed the Sofit down to cover the gap -
Warranty site inspection report and percolation test
nod replied to SarahG's topic in New House & Structural Warranties
You need to be firm with him and tell him NO The warrantee is a Structual Warranty which covers the house BC will be all over your drains It’s nothing to do with him Unless your able to claim against him for a blocked drain😁 If you do go ahead with a site investigation and peculation test He will probably know someone who can do these 💰💰💰 -
Oil base undercoat should block it

Crash course in rendering a retaining wall.....

You don’t need to put a base coat on It can be pressed into the first layer of render Then coated over with 15 mil of render after an hour -

It doesn’t base coat needs to be flat and lightly scratched Think he’s getting mixed up with top coat A toothed feather edge is used to get the air out Then flattened back down -

Exactly No such thing as a forever home Unless your on grand designs 😁 My friend was finishing his as we started ours He’d be carried out feet first he kept saying He had sold by the time we finished ours -
If you feel confident you can hire a GPS I had one fitted in the digger I borrowed Simply follow the screen like a sat nav Gives you all the depths and steps No marking out needed But you need a SE to feed the info into the software

Pay someone for a days work Your going to be looking at messy render for a long time -
You can use a laser and detector and a staff
-
Sounds like he brought quite a few subcontractors in Hardly any building companies have there own tradesmen now Even Redrow and co
-
If you use a main contractor He will bring sub contractors in for most of it So if you can find your own you will be cutting out the middle man

nod replied to AdaminCymru's topic in Lofts, Dormers & Loft Conversions
Yes definitely They will expect any prep work to be done But on site welding will take them a fraction of the time -

If it’s just a days work It probably is expensive But I suspect there’s a bit more to it than than Put your SE drawing up that they quoted from -
