Perhaps on the next We has so many restrictions by British Heritage to blend the property in with the old farm Even not allowing walls and fences Or the type of chimney pot we used It just seemed odd to put solar panels on the roof
-
We had similar conditions PV being one We both hate the look of solar panels and a projective payback of 17 decided not to fit PV While this was an issue for the original Sap company It wasn’t for an online company £120 for the final Sap report Just another bit of paper

A neighbour at our last house did exactly that when building there very large two story extension Built the lot while completely covered Even blew hot air in to carryon laying bricks As Rus has already stated It will be the best money you have spent 0 chance of the GRP going tits up

An alternative would be k rend white base coat sponged up One pass then over it with an electric sponge A lot easier than fixing cement boards and painting Cheaper also

What you also have to take into account is the trade that are floating about doing private work are not used to having there work scrutinized and are not the best Also most self builders are unlikely to provide repeat business -

Quite simple Do what my wife and myself have done Do most of the work yourself Especially the work that is on show -
You can also apply for planning in principle Costs about £500 no bead for formal drawings or dimensions A square in the middle of your plot roughly where the house is going Access marked out This will establish viability of building on your plot

HSE Trusses to remain tethered til fixed I don’t think it’s a law More of a rule like wearing PPE Its no enforceable on self builds Hebce why I didn’t pay the £1000 for a crane I can still remember trusses being taken up between two pole ladders and roofs being put on without a Scaf
-
While it’s part of regs on uk building sites You can handball most trusses Ours where over 12 mtre span 5 of us lifted them onto the wallplate and three of us put them together the following day without to much trouble A crane with outriggers will require four plates supplied by you You can get a flat bed with a crane attached that will work out cheaper Paying for an extra pair of hands for a couple of hours may be the better option

Max truss centers width for a slate roof.
nod replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
I can see where he’s coming from Nailing skates onto 450 centers would be much easier But if he was working for a building contractor he would just arrive and the roof would be ready for him with 600 centers -
Plus one here It’s never about what the builder or trade like They should follow The drawing and spec Go for the most detailed quote
-
If it’s only the base course it’s not a big deal Its still poor supervision on the builders pert

I can’t remember ever seeing roof trusses at anything other than 600 centers I would go ahead and put them in at 600 As per manufactures drawing -
