nod replied to Toppers's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
Bracken colour (Tobermore) -
The lads that are in there have rung me to say the site manager has been dogging them about making sure of a continuous dab For the air test I’ve just rung him and he’s not bothered They are air testing every property and they are all scoring the required two Air testing can be such a joke
-
These design and build houses are scoring 2 on the air tests BC is ignoring many of the issues and there’s a lot

5 mil onto the casing We normally butt 150x15 ply around the casing and run a bead of acoustic sealer onto the ply Then drive some screws through the pb the following day Partitions Simply double board Just looking to see if I’ve any picks We did a 18000 sq ft house overlooking Lake Windermere 2018 I will post them if I find some
-
It’s is quite practical and gives a very sharp finish for not a lot of money I’ve done this on a few houses and carried the detail 15 mil above the skirting Quite common on offices Coffee shops etc Simply use a stop end edge bead that taps onto the end of the plasterboards

I fitted a flood valve at our build I will be required to fit a Hydro -brake at our next Looks like a posh stainless steel version of the above Has anyone any experience of these
-
Looks good Best house in the street by far
-
I ran an Aco across the front of the house and it copes even in the worst of conditions The Aco is 600 mil lower than the start of the drive

Algae-cide You will need a dry 24 hours Dilute 20-1 and spray on with a plant sprayer The rain will do the rest 7 days later -
It’s four years since we started our first build I can’t believe how planning has changed in such a short time You can no longer pick the phone up and speak to planners If you want to ask a question you put it in writing along with a fee of £150-200
-
We use both and also G tech metal Gypsum are better quality But do the same job

Ditra or Durabase matting work well Dura is slightly cheaper Allow 6 mil in total for the mat 5 mil notch float to put it down with I always tell clients to allow 35 in total It’s easy to come up a little -

If you are using matting Allow 6 mil The rule of thumb with floor tiling is the adhesive needs to be the thickness of your tile So you will need to choose your tile pretty soon -

NHBC vs architect certificate vs any other
nod replied to WWilts's topic in New House & Structural Warranties
No my friend paid 500 on top of what we paid for a retrospective warranty If the total fee had of been £500 It still wouldn’t be worth the money -

As I said my friend paid 3500 As apposed to the 2900 we paid The problem we found was that while others where cheaper they didn’t appear on many of the lenders lists Protec and Buildzone where the top ones But the most expensive -

I used Local Authority BC Great value for money The warrantees rarely payout and would push the blame back onto the self builders -
