  1. What channels? most of the big channels stream live on the apps, and the other channels that are just showing repeats, those programs are online in other places.
  2. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the coax. I haven't had a plug in aerial in 5 years now, and only ever once thought I needed one (turns out I didn't, I used the xbox to stream itv live) The one thing you haven't mentioned is main lighting. I take twin and earth to the switch so there's a neutral there, then take a 3 core and earth up to the light fitting so there's a permanent live alongside the switch (or two switched lives depending on lights arrangement. This caters for just about every type of smart light fitting on the market.
  3. It looks like the original architect built the model from lego, and the builders followed the plan exactly..
  4. What's the direction the roof is facing? What's the pitch? Any shade? Even if you could squeeze 6 panels on there, would it be viable?
  5. Take a thermos to work and bring home hot water..
  6. If its space you need.. Consider what I did in my last place... I added pieces of 2x2 (red) on the truss, and lengths of ply (blue) down the length of the roof. This doubled the usable area for storage without having to stack anything up.. Leaving the central area free for access and not removing any structural members
  7. Therein is the proof of the scandal.. According to statistics, incomes for the very wealthy haven't grown that much, yet their relative wealth has. Where has the money come from we ask....
  8. 3x25kg batteries.. Perfectly manageable.. In fact, consider the weight of a Combustion engine >150kg You could have a reasonable range on the same time refuel/swap. In fact, I've seen videos of automated battery swap by machinery.. Its not unreasonable
  9. I spent nearly 5 years working for a billionaire.. He told us that us contractors probably payed more in tax that he did, and that most of his friends were the same.. All the works done on his millionaire mansion was paid for by a company that made a loss.. Owned by him. All legal. If you think the rich are 'getting by'. Like the rest of us, you have no idea how it is working in the real world.
  10. How heavy is is 70ltr fuel tank on a family car.... Diesel is 1kg per litre? Several modules make it manageable. It's all relative.
  11. I'm sorry, but you can't use income as a reliable measure when the majority of our incomes are unable to use the tax avoidance schemes that anyone earning large amounts can. The wealth increases in 'rich lists' prove those graphs pointless. How can the rich get richer with no increase in income?
  12. They're isn't many places in the country with more than a hundred miles between petrol stations.. Small price to pay filling up more often if its cheaper and cleaner.
  13. I've said this for over a decade now.. The only viable solution is suitcase batteries, charged at the redundant petrol stations by renewables. You pull in, swap batteries, drive on. But the industry was allowed to split itself and compete rather than cooperate.
  14. Renewables ARE the solution, but not limited to one aspect for it. We should be incorporating hydro powered reservoirs all over the country, charged (pumped up) By excess solar or wind.. It's going to take investment for long term viability, but no more than the investment that's our into oil/gas prospecting and refining.. The end product will be cheaper and more sustainable electricity.
  15. To my eyes this is deliberate.. Over the last 20 years there has been a huge increase in the working class getting second homes and buy-to-let mortgages (thanks to low interest rates) have been encouraging this. The top end of the spectrum (with no mortgage costs because they buy outright) are not affected by the recent changes, in fact, excess capital is allowing them to snap up the additional properties the small scale landlords are forced to sell. I might be labelled a tory basher for saying that, but the fact is, the last dozen years has only widened the rich poor divide and the political situation has been steered to encourage it.
  16. I cannot see building materials, or fossil fuels getting cheaper... Yes it's expensive now to bring old buildings closer to standard, but do you think it will be easier or cheaper further down the road?? The way epc is assessed is wrong, it should be treated on two levels.. Firstly a comparable score for costs of running, and secondly a realistic grade that the building is capable of achieving in its class. There isn't much logic in comparing a modern house, old flat and a 16th century barn with the same generic score
  17. For the most part, not every house has vde pliers.. But most have a potato. It's why it's a great life hack
  18. If you use pliers, And it's live, it goes boom. If you stuff in a potato and twist, it's safe and you don't cut your fingers, or damage the lamp holder
  19. Also top tip.. If you've wired it in Double points (two ports in a face plate). You can use a patch cable between them and test back at the panel
  20. If you use the modules/faceplate that you're intending to 2nd fix with, there's no wastage! You can just disconnect and then reconnect properly at a later date
  21. 2 would eliminate the thermal bridge from the stud walls. If you did 1, you'd have to baton the studs to have something to fix plasterboard to.
  22. This was often referred to as a HOT offering, people would leave a small amount of cash in a glove box, or just inside the front door. HONOUR AMONGST THIEVES. It meant respect, and take it and leave Trouble is, nowadays I don't the little gobsh!tes would understand or respect it.
  23. Would be interesting for someone to do an experiment regarding ufh Pipes stapled to the PIR vs halfway on the mesh.. Checking surface temperatures over time etc.. Logic says that you'll feel it faster if its near the surface, but also 50% of the initial heat will be going downwards towards the PIR as well as up, so would it really be that noticeable? It's still the same mass of concrete to absorb the heat before dissipating it out to the room.. Thoughts?
  24. If it were me, I would want a 'choc box' around that. https://www.screwfix.com/p/debox-24a-in-line-junction-box-50-x-102-x-28-5mm-white/8692H?kpid=8692H&cm_mmc=Google-_-Datafeed-_-Electrical and Lighting?kpid=KINASEKPID&cm_mmc=Google-_-TOKEN1-_-TOKEN2&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0vWnBhC6ARIsAJpJM6d7h7UdlLnHpLyERO9o6pgd1Jp-e6ufXM-IAlVHMIOeEhDR6ycdd_IaApBzEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Reason being any movement on either flex could pull one of the terminations out.
  25. From the arrangement of the residue it appears to have been airborne.. Is there a bathroom extractor not connected to outside? I've seen one installed in a bathroom with a flexi vent that just dumped into the void above and that created all kinds of pretty mold, stalagmites and stalagtites.
