    Do you mean basically another roof over this one? Don't know, let me see what he proposes. I'm not going to agree to anything tomorrow until I've checked it out.....

    Actually this whole GRP saga is literally sending me crazy. I've questioned if we are being picky, overreacting, being stupid but I'm confident it's none of these. Yes, I am determined to get the fall put on the roof and the whole thing replaced. I'm just upset and angry that floor insulation has gone in and today the pipes were 50% laid for the UFH with that green plastic stuff on it so it's going to create issues now taking the whole bloody roof off to sort it out. But then I think we have made it clear since the coating went on we weren't happy so it's not our fault he has carried on regardless knowing this and if he had done a good job in the first place and subbed it out to someone who knew what they were doing we wouldn't have the problems we have got now. I'm sure he is going to try and wiggle out of it but I shall come here for advice. It's such a huge area it needs to be absolutely right. @MJNewton I've read all your thread. If you had your time again would you have gone with ripping up the whole roof?

    Yes I'm suggesting after 5pm. His message just now suggests he has 'identified the problem and is sorting it' . I know what the problem is, whoever has done it! The sorting it needs confirming because it's not more layers. I'm quite within my rights to ask for it to be taken off and redone.

    I've basically said we want the fall on the roof, exactly as it was on the plans.

    It's a 3 bed plus office and dressing room which I guess technically could be additional bedrooms! Bungalows always look bigger and people seem to associate them with downsizing but I love bungalows.

    We didn't when we moved here but it wasn't a necessity for us as we loved the location anyway. We were considering a boat as an alternative accommodation whilst the building work was happening so apied and got mooring for a 50 foot narrowboat but our finances haven't allowed us to purchase one yet.

    We do too, once it has a boat next to our garden it will be even better ? We have managed to keep the garden relatively tidy too though longer term needs landscaping etc.

    I haven't had a bath for over 2 years now (unless you count me coming to my parents just to use their bath!) I miss a bath a lot!

    Exactly this! I strongly suspect rather than get someone, a professional who he could have subcontracted it to, he's took a chance on doing it with his gang of men and made a royal bodge of it. Now I need to do a strongly worded email because he has dismissed me twice now, once just adding more coats and on site when I pointed out specific issues saying it was normal and never going to be perfect.....

    I've just had quick look at what I've got on my phone and it says; INSULATION BONDED TO VCL ON 22MM EXTERNAL QUALITY PLYWOOD DECKING OR SIMILAR APPROVED ON SW FIRINGS TO MINIMUM 1 IN 80 FALL ON SW TREATED 47 X 170MM FLAT ROOF C24 TIMBER JOISTS AT 400MM CTRS TO GIVE A MAX SPAN OF 3.22M OR AS STRUCTURAL ENGINEER'S DETAILS AND CALCULATIONS. To me this looks like there should be a fall on the roof. Is this right?

    We had cheap £20 doors in our last house and had hooks on bathroom and bedroom doors, albeit for dressing gowns but in fairness ended up with coats on them in the bedrooms. They were from Ikea and had no issues and were in for over 10 years and still there when we sold the house.

    @joe90 @SteamyTea hoping for some advice. Still no rectification to the roof as yet but after a heavy downpour today and a visit to the site I went to inspect the roof. And this is what's happening.... Clearly this needs sorting as it looks like water is already penetrating...... Any words of wisdom? Surely now I can't be told this is normal?? We also have definite pooling of water, albeit we have no guttering.

    You mean not impressed with GRP generally? I can only comment on pictures I've seen on here and online videos etc and compare it to the job we have had done. It can look pretty good, I guess like anything it depends on the fitting of it.

    That's one thing off my mind then. The builder knows I'm not happy and as we were walking around site he told one of the workers "she says your roof is crap" so I've made my feelings more than clear. I need to give him a chance to sort it and will follow it up with an email over the weekend. I'm not on site next week and the wife is dealing with things whilst I have a few days at my parents.

    I was feeling pretty confident about speaking to the builder after comments from @joe90, @SteamyTea and @ProDave Good news, they have GRPd the roof light upstands. Bad news, I just am not happy with the roof. I can't accept that this is normal even though the builder says it is and in places it looks like patchwork although he assures me it's watertight. He was talking about putting some sort of edging on it to tidy up the corners and whilst I accept these areas will always be problematic and the guttering will seem to disguise some of it but it just doesn't seem right. More worrying is I was talking about the gully from the pitch onto the flat roof below and apparently our roof is flat "you mean there is a fall on it" I said. The response, "No, not really" ? I think I'm making myself quite ill obsessing over this! Everything else seems to be going ok.

    You should have seen it before they rectified it. This is the fix! It's really stressing me out.

    Thanks @SteamyTea I'll see how I get on with the builder. It's like they have ploughed on doing all the cladding knowing we.aren't happy.
