Have tried and failed, he has adopted the same theme of not naming his videos on what they are about, something that I am now second guessing, But from what I hear they are a very good idea, it keeps the weight closer to your body and I can't see any disadvantages. Only thing you need to consider is how much you use the saw out of the mill? as when it is in the mill the weight is almost irrelevant, then again how much are we talking? it's still only a bar so I can't see you breaking £200 even if you were getting robbed.

Never had a chance myself but wranglerstar is a big fan. I'll try and find a link when I get home.

So how sharp do you sharpen your chisels?

I agree, I wouldn't recommend anyone go out any buy a set of Lee Nielsons because they are better, but I similarly wouldn't recommend anyone to just go for faithful because you can put an edge on anything, The difference in price comes from the quality of the steel, and more importantly how much of the tip has been tempered and how well it was done, I will personally recommend the marples set, as they have done me proud, there will obviously be a lot of alternatives but I just can't comment on them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Irwin-Marples-8pc-Piece-Split-Proof-Wood-Chisel-Set-6mm-to-50mm-in-Wooden-Case-/272247156741?hash=item3f6331f005:g:~JwAAOSwdWBXPIyf -

I'm still using the set of irwin marples i brought as an apprentice, I think the set was on offer for about £50 at the time, I have recently brought a replacement set for about £70 but it did come with a free 2" chisel (they haven't been used yet) honing guide probably wouldn't be a bad idea for a beginner, only issue is they tend to wear a track in the stones so you need to continuously make sure you move it about a bit, that link just cost me nearly £200 and the set was in the final basket -

If you can't shave with it you shouldn't be using it. I have the advantage of a wet wheel with an attached leather wheel. But in honesty I don't use it much as it is in the workshop. I would normally give them say 5 mins on a fine diamond stone and then a good 30-40 strokes on a strop with a bit of rouge on it. Obviously that is unless it has hit a nail. Then it goes back to the workshop and gets re honed properly. -
You know what they say about big fingers.....?

Just ask @recoveringacademic. He is your man for "how to buy a digger" I don't think it has been brought over yet, But this would be a good place to start http://www.ebuild.co.uk/topic/18040-checklist-buying-used-mini-digger/

Deep down I'm sure she cares a little bit. Crazy thing is she didn't finish work till 2am the night before. Then she battled on through that ridiculous heat with me ( I really could have died it was so hot). Then went back to the pub to work from 4:30-8:30. did the washing up. And now she is back at school having to deal with other people's spoilt little brats. I just don't know how she does it.

This will not make you any better, practice and tuition will help. but essentially you just need to put in more time

well today i have laid about 120 and I'm not laying anymore, the thermometer peaked at 36 I was lucky to be getting the stretcher and its following header in one bed joint before it had gone too hard. Without Faye labouring i doubt i would have got past the first course

Problem those are for the "pros" A bent up old bucket handle will be more than good enough for a amateur like myself

It turns out there was enough footage for its own video I made one as an apprentice but i lost it, so i took the time to make a new one.. or 2

next question is can someone elegantly explain why it works both ways? (A*B)+a=x and A+B+(previous x)=x not exactly similar ????

Im sticking with 96. if you were to go down the road of getting 40, surely you would need to fill in the rest of the sequence 4+7=11+21=32 5+8...... and so on so the answer wouldn't be 40 anyway

that clearly needs a fireman's pole
