  1. Thank you, but funny you should ask, I destroyed it because i wasn't happy with it. the lettering wasn't deep enough so i doubled the stamp, also i wanted to redo it as i made the bottom slump when i tapped it out of the mould. I dont intend to glaze it at all, I'm going to leave the 2 finished ones to dry for a week, put them in the slow oven for a few days and then try and get the buggers up to 900 DegC
  2. Just to wet all your appetites I'll show you attempt 2 before destroy it
  3. I thought i was pretty quick on that one, but i fully understand
  4. call them and ask them, I'll bet they will get it to you for less than £12
  5. Looks like Wranglerstar is a fan, Maybe it will take off more than i thought
  6. Some.. to start with i only took 8mm off the original shape instead of the 10mm that I planned. so allowing 4-6mm shrinkage, but the more i thought and read about it i decided to give it a bit more, so I took it all apart and moved them all back about 3mm, (that is still to come in the next video, i filmed this last video on the 1st ;o ) so we now have allowed about 5mm shrinkage on all sides......ish.....
  7. (should be available at about 2am)....ish
  8. is the BCO demanding this or just the kitchen supplier
  9. I could yes. But that would then be deciding which side looks best before i make it , if i cut it afterwards i have got 2 sides to choose from
  10. Iv just noticed i didn't thank you for this comment earlier, and i should have, there will be some videos uploaded tomorrow. iv been sitting on footage for days but i just haven't been bothered to make any videos from it. I could achieve so much if i could motivate myself better. Thank you again.
  11. 2 reasons, I haven't got any stones big enough to cut it out of, and I want to have a go at making a brick. I am fully aware that i could have just paid someone else to make me a Brick or carve me a stone, It would have been a lot easier but i would be wasting an opportunity to have a go at something new.
  12. Ok I could have updated a few times but i thought i would wait until i knew for sure. We laid the floor today so i can happily say this is the final outcome, the customer asked for a 12% refund and was willing to ignore any warranty that was previously offered. Naked wood finally agreed on a 20% refund and no warranty. the customer worked out that 12% would cover the cost of us putting every board through a thicknesser, sanding imperfections and the decorator re staining them to the colour they actually wanted. so 20% seems like there was an element of good will involved. it went down today as bare oak and looked lovely, now they are treating it with a white Osmo product to try and define the grain a little and will eventually use another clear Osmo product to give it a matt finish, Ill try and get some pictures of when its finished if i can. Ed
  13. lets not be silly about things.... in fairness it probably would work but i can almost guarantee it would leave a texture / the wrong look, If all else fails i will keep it in mind
  14. I have been considering release agent. But I haven't seen anyone else use it for bricks. All they seem to use is sand. I was intending to use brick dust for the first attempt. We will see how we get on. I'm not expecting this to work perfectly first time. It might which would be nice but I'm not holding my breath.
  15. Don't panic Terry I have already got a cunning plan for that issue. Essentially once I have got the brick and stamped the front I plan on cutting a fairly deep "frog" out of the back of it. ?
  16. This is all you're allowed. The clay has been taking a while to dry but I think it is very nearly ready. There is a small chance I might have a first attempt this weekend ?
  17. i must admit i don't "like" the idea of a stand alone tap.
  18. £2-300 you say.... very interesting, do you know how well they work with bio disk's? I hear there are restrictions of what you should put into them
  19. does it mash it and store it in a box or just mash it and send it down the drain?
  20. I assume that is the entire system, not just the taps
  21. i had seen they have a lock button but i didn't know they were sprung loaded.... next issue is drinking water? I was always told not to drink out of mixer taps, or is that just not a thing anymore?
  22. another great point, what are peoples opinions on 3 way taps over separate boiling taps? I have got horrible feeling that a 3 way tap is a bit to likely to scold a drunk Ed
  23. this thread is great, I plan to install a "boiling tap" as well.
  24. £1500 don't get me wrong, that is a hell of a hob, But £1500
