  1. Do you have experience of a digger? Cos if not and it's a smallish job, don't waste your time with the learning curve I bought one and it's been a fantastic buy. I found it extremely frustrating at first but I'm very lucky as one of my best mates has been using them for years and makes things look so easy when he helps me
  2. And I personally never do the horizontal and vertical silicone on the same day just cos I want neat corners!
  3. If it's just this one off job, why not use ali welding rods? I've used them with success on ali albeit it's a slower process as you need to heat the ali up first to melt the rod onto.
  4. I wondered that too.......................
  5. I've put a lot of thought into the same issue Jamie and from a post I put up on here, firstly sectional doors would be best for keeping draughts out (I assume as you've building it in ICF, it will be a proper work space even in winter). 2 single doors = 4 points for draughts as opposed to 1 large door obviously has both sides. I like you like the idea of being able to open one side as opening a large door lets all heat out in winter and less privacy. But with 2 single doors, I think you're more limited to your arrangements inside the garage at the sides, 1 large door you can easily put a car anywhere you want.
  6. What about incense sticks?
  7. shame the DIY stuff has ended at Lidl
  8. Just wanted to say thank to everyone, used the gun today and as Terry said, I'll never now go back to a plastic nozzled can - so much easier with the gun!!!!
  9. I'm sure I saw on the forecast that weed pollen is high too and part of the problem with bad sufferers right now - you're not gonna try and persuade me to eat weeds off my plot are you
  10. Oh, so to desensitize me over time. Would MVHR help in anyway though?
  11. What would I do with the honey??
  12. As I'm suffering really badly with hay fever this year, I wondered if anyone with MVHR found it's helped at all with pollen? Vijay
  13. Called Land Registry this morning who told me solicitors are not needed at all. Their website says "there is no prescribed form for a written boundary agreement" and gives an example of one. The neighbours solicitor has copied it exactly and putting a £729 price tag on it. I've now told the neighbour I will happily prepare the form and agreement if he wants and we can share the £90 LR fee but I will not be paying for an extortionate solicitor where it's not needed
  14. Use a water level, basically as long as you need it clear PVC pipe with water in it, both ends will always settle level
  15. Cheers guys, I will look at the others too and will take into account what ProDave has said about easier install They were the people I contacted, all the Ebay sellers in fact. I don't know if it's the quantity I need that put them off (don't know why it would though cos it's more money for them) as the outline is approx 129 linear metres. No problem with that You mean for normal scaffolding and not kwikstage type? Does Kwickstage type scaffolding use normal scaffolding boards?
  16. My roofer mate always uses JJ roofing https://www.jjroofingsupplies.co.uk/
  17. Originally I was speaking to contractors but all though nice guys, they were absolutely crap at getting back to me, one completely vanished, one was double the others price and then one said he could now only do the walls (and not the roof timbers anymore) after months of talking about what I needed, so to be honest, I got fed up and decided the only way to get this done is DIY - and luck! lol So you've used Kwikstage yourself Alex?
  18. Thanks to Jamie (who planted another seed in my head lol) I've pondered the idea of trying to get Kwikstage scaffold for my build as it would take the pressure off trying to get things done on someone else's deadline. I've contacted a few companies from Ebay who either say they won't quote/don't get back to me/their price is sky high or one company quoted and said I might need more - great help there! lol For those who've gone down this route, how did you find the scaffolding price compared to hiring? Cheers Vijay
  19. and a Pythagoras app if you have a smart phone
  20. Digital lasers are great but good luck finding the dot over any distance - it can take ages!!! I've got a Bosch one too My mate sent me that video and it was a godsend when I did the setting out.
  21. Sadly that's where I live at the moment
  22. lol it certainly looks that way
  23. But did you build your ICF off your concrete slab? I've got B&B floor and strip foundations. I still use a DPM but have to stop rising damp in the concrete core of the ICF http://www.polarwall.co.uk/pdf/PWD014.pdf
