an old builder mate said to me years ago his dry mix was basically enough water so it just clumps together when you squeeze it in your hand

Kwikstage scaffolding questions

Dawn on me today it has to be two transoms because of the fixings. So just the bracing to sort now. If you guy in the know would see what you think of this bracing. Yellow lines show where I would use bracing (sort of every 4 bays). Obviously where it's double storey, I would zigzag it up (red line separates the single and double storey areas). -
Love posts like this that show what's possible. Out of interest, has anyone come across boiler timers that can be fitted that you can control by an app?

brillaint Would it be a 2 x ledgers or 4 x transoms for the hand rails at that double bay, or could they both work? Might be an idea to have a gate for for loading there -

If I have 2 x 2.4 bays, side by side, am I right in saying I use 1 standard with a transom coming off each side and then one ledger in the middle of the 2 bays? -
I assume cos section 75 says they have to

Cheers bud, that makes sense I assume people just use ledgers and transoms for safety handrails (and midrail) at the top working platforms? Or are there specific items used as handrails? -

Meant from the bottom of the standard to the first transom fitting connector -
You ask who ever you're paying what credit card merchant they use and then ring your credit card company
-
Isn't there also an issue with who process credit cards for section 75 too? I'm sure I saw on TV that some credit card processing firms aren't backed by section 75, so worth double checking

Just thinking about that sends shivers!!!! lol Just out of interest, what's the height of the lowest transom fixing from the bottom of a standard? -
Like bird poo that I think was mentioned before?

Very good points and I will make sure that happens. I wouldn't want anyone up high and getting something hurting them or getting in their eyes especially when not on safe ground! -

Thank you, that makes complete sense and I hadn't thought about fixing the transoms and ledgers in place from below, I was only thinking about raising boards. Knowledge and experience prevails!!!! lol -

I've got no experience with Kwikstage which is probably obvious from all my questions lol but I thought a 2.4m board could be lifted by one person and pulled by the other to raise them? I totally get that a single person could seriously struggle My main concern is not over spacing them so it's structurally safe -
Food for thought, I was hoping to use a larger tank so the pump didn't run every time a toilet was flushed but wouldn't want to risk legionella

Thanks Dave. I'd have never thought of lifting planks to next level. I think with two of us, we should easily be able to do 5 pegs which I believe is around 2m. Is lifting boards 2.5m too much though (for 2 people) as I could save on a row of transoms and ledgers? I'm already getting towards kwikstage outweighing getting normal scaffold I think -
What loft tank size would you suggest?

OK, makes sense about needing to work off the platform to do the one above. So the ledgers and transoms get left in place as you go up and you just move the boards up each level So is the every 4 pegs you mentioned your personal preference or the safe limit (so the structure is safe) for the ledgers and transoms? -
Does the council class DIY as Construction

I guess one is seen as a domestic noise and the other is building work noise -

so no matter what lengths of standard, you have 1 transom (and I assume ledger?) every 4 pegs, so approx every 1.8m? I wasn't planning on using handrails anywhere but my working platforms -

Where I have a lift of say 6970, which I would be using 1 x 9'9" and 2 x 6'6" standards, would I use 4 transoms, one at the bottom, one at the top and 1 between each standard joint? -
More than happy to save some money on insulation if I can get the same spec Will look at that nearer the time as prices for everything will probably have changed by the time I get a roof on lol It has indeed been designed with a 50mm ventilation gap. This is my roof buildup:
