We had to do something a bit more ramp like as the incline was too great for a single gentle ramp. It doesn't look too bad now that there is gravel and plants however. It's been used a couple of times for deliveries but other than that no one has been here in a wheelchair in 8 years.

You’re lucky. I wasn’t allowed anything. Threshold had to be level with the tiles. Apparently rolling a wheelchair could be dangerous ? over a 10mm drop. If a wheelchair rolls away due to that they’d have a lot more difficulty getting from the parking area up to the front door where the disabled access is!

I agree to a certain extent but there is no way we could have predicted what happened to my husband albeit that was pretty unusual. The downstairs wet room was a godsend as he could have a proper shower chair in there rather than a tiny stool and we ended up making a bedroom for him downstairs as there was no way he would have the oak staircase ruined by a stairlift. He could still walk a few steps so didn’t need the wheelchair ramp but couldn’t climb stairs. I do think it’s crazy to have to have a disabled WC in a one bed starter home however. Often the loo is about the same size as the kitchen! There is no way a wheelchair user could live in one as the only proper washing facilities and bedrooms are upstairs.

They might be more fussy in Scotland. We had to send full details of our disabled ramp to building control and they were quite fussy. It was all built out of stone / pavers. There was a small height difference across the threshold on the inside and they were really picky about it and made me put a wooden ramp inside to smooth the transition. Even when the threshold was completely level they didn’t want to sign it off as there was a 10mm rise to get on the bottom of the ramp. They discussed it in the office and agreed that it would be ok in the end. Crazy as a wooden ramp clearly is going to be ripped out! @Hecateh‘s building inspector OTOH said that he didn’t care if there was a disabled access IIRC.

That would be way too hot for me. It was that temperature some days in the summer and it was too hot.

lol, soft southerner! 20 is more than warm enough for me. I actually haven't had the heating on yet and it's down to 19 degrees today. Still fine though . Most of my friends down south have been saying they've put the heating on now (on FB). Wood burners and central heating on all over the SE today it seems .

I hate it being too hot upstairs TBH so I only have the heating on up here during the coldest weather. I like a nice 20 degrees downstairs though.

I know the OH said that he wished he had put rads in upstairs. For the amount of time I need heating on upstairs rads would have been a much better solution. Mind you those probably wouldn't have worked either!

Somewhere to Live During the Build
newhome commented on Triassic's blog entry in Mr and Mrs Triassics New Home
I knew this house would be huge for 2 people but the OH wouldn’t build a smaller one. God knows why. I have way too much ‘stuff’ for a tiny place though. -
And this matters because when there’s a bloody great plate going on top?

Lol, used to live in Tun Wells but didn’t often go to High Rocks, and not when I was a Pernod drinker lol.

I used to drink it on the rocks ?.

Badly worded on my part. I meant that he had saved £150 buying it in Berwick lol. I think he mentioned Glenmorangie so may have been that. Being a non whisky drinker I don't know a single malt from a bourbon -
I guess it depends what you term as 'doubt'. With my hubby there telling the sparky who did the EIC what the controls did I guess it wasn't that much of an issue if they weren't labeled but without someone with that knowledge there were a few that were a mystery. There is still one that is a mystery. I think it's something to do with the MVHR. Would the summer bypass be on a normal switch? It doesn't turn the whole thing off. I can't seem to do that unless I switch of off at the CU. On the EIC the only mention of labeling was a C3 that said 'there are no 400v labels in the boiler cupboard'.

We didn't ask where the materials came from ...

No one in Scotland can afford to drink it now . Met a guy from Tain on the bus during Storm Ali who was on holiday in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. He said that he had come down for a holiday and chose Berwick as he had saved £150 on buying whisky from his local distilleries that were just a few miles from his house. -
Will be more Stratford Gold than McEwan's

Always although I was more of a Pernod girl back in the day . Hope things are looking up now. Everyone needs time to chillax. Enjoy.

Ha ha, there used to be an offy 2 shops from the top of the parade and we would send someone in who was old enough to buy it and then sneak up a bit further to the footpath that goes down to Otford and drink it .

Every circuit is identified in the CU here, but none of the heating controls or switches were labelled so there was no way of telling what does what like Lizzie's system. It's ok now because @PeterW and his labeling fetish addressed that issue. There is one connection to the CU that is not labeled however as the spark that did it didn't put a label in the CU. I think it does the EV charge point, or something in the garage anyway. Guess I could switch it off one day and have a look see what doesn't work with it off. Would have been useful if he had labeled the damn thing however.

Back in my stomping ground then! Enjoy!

Not as far as Scotland

That reminds me - I still have the one borrowed from work in my plant room .

I don’t think you were here when my nightmare heating thread started. Mine got signed off without any labelling, instructions and without anyone checking it. Most of it didn’t work and the UFH in the extension wasn’t even connected up until @Nickfromwales and @PeterW came up to fix it.
