I would get the angle grinder out, sand off all the problem areas, then re-GRP those areas. The external corners are always going to be a problem, would probably use a glass tape on them.

The main laying up of the GRP does not look to bad, just the edges and corners that look rough. Basically what they did was use the cut edge of the roll on the trim. They should have used the torn edge. It is hard to tell if the trim was properly prepared before they started as they seem to have tried to cover up mistakes with extra flowcoat. Not a hard job to put right to be honest, just a bit time consuming and messy.

How much insulation are you putting under the UFH pipework? If there is not much, heat will just leak out to the ground. Have you done any detailed heat loss calculations? The biggest problem with combining heating and hot water is that they are different things. You may find that you are better off heating your water with a simple E7 system, then using oil, or a heat pump, to heat the house. Regarding 'woeful' night storage heaters, sounds like they are sized incorrectly. Taking the simple example of one 21 kWh storage heater, this is charged with a 3 kW supply. It can deliver, on average, 875 W. Now to the best of my knowledge, no one makes a gas or oil boiler that small. So it is not fair to compare a 1 kW heater to a 12 kW heat source. Sizing is everything.

The benefit of making the external surfaces airtight is that you don't replace warm air that is trapped in the insulation with cold air. The disadvantage is moisture retention.
