  1. Does that mean I don't have to hide the asbestos in my weekly black bag collection. I bet it does not make the men at my local tip any friendlier. I asked why they were wearing body cams now. Apparently they had an incident where someone swore at them.
  2. Is that a recommended supplier, or someone to avoid?
  3. I think think ~50p a day, which is about what meter rental is (though there are other services that are included in that) to deliver my very reliable power supply is quite cheap. For me, that is 0.06p/kWh. I could, if I pulled the full 100A get that down to 0.00000086805555555p/kWh. Not many people would want to do that for a job. A kWh is the same as pushing a 1 tonne car, through 1 meter, every second, for an hour. Yesterday I used 4 kWh, so a small urchin would have worked very hard. Not the grid that is the problem. It is a National Treasure
  4. Is that the same grid that powers businesses and public services? Can I start to use cocaine and become a bigger prick than I already am? I will only buy from Swansea dealers if it helps sustainability. I would be silently shouting "puff" but in a Welsh accent as it sounds better.
  5. That seems to be a fairly common approach towards the cost/benefit of battery ownership And on a more general note, the environment. I include myself in the 'don't care' group, and it is backed up by my day to day behaviour.
  6. Did the operator have a restaurant before? I like a burger. Went to Lidl and bought enough to make 4, worked out at 80p each. That included chips.
  7. Umm. There is a big price difference though. Adding an extra 1m2 of PV cost a lot more than adding 0.3m2 of TV viewing area.
  8. The lovely little Tim Hartford did a bit on this today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001n1nl Well with listening to as it puts things into perspective. Also confirm a lot of what I, and others, have been saying.
  9. Yes. Why I very really have tea when I am out. My general rule is to only get what I cannot easily make at home.
  10. We seem to be noticing a reduction in trade (catering). Usually by now we are struggling and have to take on extra staff, not at that stage yet. Also noticed that in town 3 of the larger restaurants have closed down and a couple of the smaller ones have not opened up as usual. Not surprising really, I feel ripped off in restaurants as I know the prices they are paying, roughly what their overheads are, and can then calculate the amount of mark up they are putting on.
  11. it is, in reality, the only method. Many battery systems have a thermocouple/temperature sensor on then. Monitoring that, along with the MJ delivered (either charging or discharging) may show a good correlation if efficiency. I am always surprised how warm my phone gets when it has been on the fast charger compared to the slow one I usually use.
  12. Does that just mean your system is oversized for your usage.

  14. Won't be as good, b cause it is not a game changer. 7 quid is about 35 kWh on the original FiT. How many do you think you are exporting?
  15. What you going to do when they pull this tariff from the market?
  16. Not seen that for over a day now.

  18. But not with bare hands. Especially iny the DC side, the black cables.
  19. I suggested a while back that Buildhub get a discount scheme going with the major suppliers.
  20. Moe details of your system are going to be needed. Is there an off chance that a tree has grown and is now shading the modules.
  21. I like that as well. But when you get home on a moonless night, turn the car headlights off, can you find your house by starlight along. Shall call it 'The Stealth House'.
  22. 16th May, 1960, well before I was born. We should have had Laser Day last Friday.
  23. Come on, we are in the 21st century.

  25. We used to put a char on the saunas we made. It was more for looks than weather proofing. We soon abandoned it. Saunas get there own charing that looks very different. We did notice that there seemed to be no difference in weathering. Commercial saunas, which get hosed down daily, still rotted out at the base. Pointed out that they should be cleaned when hot as that dries the water off. But pool cleaners tend to do the early shift.
