How does your garden grow?
SteamyTea replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
I once tried to become a children's magic entertainer. Rather that make pigeons appear from a hat, or rabbits disappear, I put my hand down my trouser front, rummaged about a little, then produced two hairs. Was not successful. Should I have got my slug out? -
Right, and that needs a log book. Is that for installation or usage, or even both?

I cannot help at all. What is the STP?

3.564 GW, only 3 shut down. Am I right in thinking that EDF are the only nuclear supplier?

Lawnmowers no, bikes, think I have 5. One fixed wheel, an Olmo, my made to measure Crabtree, my Scott MB, my hack bike and my ex's pink thing. Thankfully I gave my old MB away as it was a little too large for me.

Telephone/broadband strategy for new build

All our networks are equally as slow. Think 3 and Vodafone are going to merge. Vodafone have always seemed expensive to me. -
By having that Roman invention, central heating.

I got my Smarty £16/month, unlimited data, SIM today (no cancellation fee). Popped it in old phone, registered the card and away it goes. Not done a speed check on it yet as went out to play. Shall download some porn later. Did I say porn, meant educational science video, which is worse, it involves the mind and body. -
Welcome. Probably a bigger task in front of you than you can imagine. As you currently don't have heating, you could consider getting an Air to Air Heat Pump or two as a temporary measure. One it will give you some heating and cooling, and more importantly, you will know how much energy your house will need.

Now I know it is nice and sunny, and we have the longest hours of daylight this week, but what struck me as odd is how little nuclear generation is currently happening. It may be scheduled maintenance, but I would have thought that we could be increasing it and using less natural gas. Both wind and solar are generation more than 50% more than nuclear at the moment (16:10 19/06/2023), gas is less than the two combined by about 10%.

Isn't the Mayor of London trying to get long burns banned via the clean air act. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/feb/08/wood-burners-in-effect-banned-new-refurbished-homes-london I suspect that WDs that are already installed will get swept up in it all.

I consistently use about 1 kWh a day, during the day time. As I was sitting in the cafe this morning I noticed all the telewankers plugging in their phones and laptop. How small could a 1.25 kWh battery storage and BMS/mains charger be made? If it, in effect, knocks 50p off a cup of coffee, and with my loyalty 1 free coffee after I buy 6, that will get the price down to around £2.20 a cup, 2017 prices.

That sounds horrible. In some ways I hope it is just someone with mental health issues, but then, for them, every days is scary. -

Make your own, easy now you have a jigsaw, drill, multitool and an angle grinder. -
Again I am not sure, I suspect that a correlation is possible, and that may point to the underlying physics. When changing the value of k, you could change any of the physical properties of the system, it may be worth, for a giggle, knocking up a spreadsheet and basing k on the ideal gas laws PV/T = C, where P is pressure, V is volume and T is temperature. An adjust factor may have to be introduced that is, in effect, describing the rest of the physical system. I shall have to think about it more, but as I am out at the moment, it is a task to do when I get home, rather than a busy cafe on a cloudy Sunday.
