  1. I have a largish windturbine just over a kilometre from me. Can't see it. I wish they had made a much taller and bigger one. I am confused as to why they are getting in touch with you when it is so far away. Maybe our resident legal man @Adsibob can shed some light on it.
  2. Not really, needs to be nipped in the bud early, then there is no confusion. There is plenty of stuff about it that older members have read.
  3. Except one of them can have SI units attached to it.
  4. Really. Use an electric element to heat a stone, that then radiates heat, then dress it up with words that have little meaning. A basic wall hung panel heater is really all you need. They heat the air by convection.
  5. Well it has my two favourite heating words in it, radiant and ceramic.
  6. Basically yes. Things that are fixed to a wall are generally better. Saves the guests walking off with them as well.
  7. I use it to confirm what I already know i.e. an equation. I know a fairly well known actor, their birthday is wrong on Wikipedia, and IMDB. They don't change it as that way they get lots of cards.
  8. Yes you can. It is 500 J/s, so a lot of force involved.
  9. Or you can just copy and past the text and post. What is your job?
  10. Pop up the plans and the specifications and we will all know how far off we all are.
  11. This one was interesting though. https://eos.org/articles/mapping-the-oceans-motion-energy And this one. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-68438582
  12. Certainly seems true this year so far. But, a quick look at my news feed. https://news.google.com/articles/CBMiLGh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmJiYy5jby51ay9uZXdzL2J1c2luZXNzLTY4NDY3NTI50gEwaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuYmJjLmNvLnVrL25ld3MvYnVzaW5lc3MtNjg0Njc1MjkuYW1w?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMic2h0dHBzOi8vd3d3LnRoZWd1YXJkaWFuLmNvbS93b3JsZC8yMDI0L21hci8wNS9pY2UtZnJlZS1zdW1tZXJzLWluLWFyY3RpYy1wb3NzaWJsZS13aXRoaW4tbmV4dC1kZWNhZGUtc2NpZW50aXN0cy1zYXnSAQA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMidWh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LnJldXRlcnMuY29tL2J1c2luZXNzL2Vudmlyb25tZW50L3dvcmxkLWJyaW5rLWZvdXJ0aC1tYXNzLWNvcmFsLXJlZWYtYmxlYWNoaW5nLWV2ZW50LW5vYWEtc2F5cy0yMDI0LTAzLTA1L9IBAA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMimQFodHRwczovL3d3dy5oaW5kdXN0YW50aW1lcy5jb20vaW5kaWEtbmV3cy9iZW5nYWx1cnUtd2F0ZXItY3Jpc2lzLWdyaW0tYXMtMy0wMDAtYm9yZXdlbGxzLWRyaWVkLXVwLXRhbmtlcnMtcHJpY2VzLXNreXJvY2tldC0xMC1wb2ludHMtMTAxNzA5NjQ5NzMxNDkxLmh0bWzSAQA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMibmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LnJldXRlcnMuY29tL3dvcmxkL2V1cm9wZS9ncmVlY2UtcmVjb3Jkcy1ob3R0ZXN0LWV2ZXItd2ludGVyLXJhaXNpbmctZmVhcnMtc3VtbWVyLWZpcmVzLTIwMjQtMDMtMDQv0gEA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMisgFodHRwczovL3RoZWNvbnZlcnNhdGlvbi5jb20vYXJjdGljLXJpdmVycy1mYWNlLWJpZy1jaGFuZ2VzLXdpdGgtYS13YXJtaW5nLWNsaW1hdGUtcGVybWFmcm9zdC10aGF3LWFuZC1hbi1hY2NlbGVyYXRpbmctd2F0ZXItY3ljbGUtdGhlLWVmZmVjdHMtd2lsbC1oYXZlLWdsb2JhbC1jb25zZXF1ZW5jZXMtMjI0ODY50gEA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMihAFodHRwczovL3d3dy5ldXJvbmV3cy5jb20vZ3JlZW4vMjAyNC8wMy8wNC93YXRlci1yZXN0cmljdGlvbnMtaW5jcmVhc2VkLXByaWNlcy1hbmQtaW1wcmlzb25tZW50LWhvdy1pcy10dW5pc2lhLWJhdHRsaW5nLTUteWVhcnMtb2YtZHLSAQA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMiZmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LnRoZWd1YXJkaWFuLmNvbS9jb21tZW50aXNmcmVlLzIwMjQvbWFyLzA0L3dhdGVyLXdvcmxkLXJ1bi1vdXQtcGxhbmV0LWhvdHRlci1sb29taW5nLWNyaXNpc9IBZmh0dHBzOi8vYW1wLnRoZWd1YXJkaWFuLmNvbS9jb21tZW50aXNmcmVlLzIwMjQvbWFyLzA0L3dhdGVyLXdvcmxkLXJ1bi1vdXQtcGxhbmV0LWhvdHRlci1sb29taW5nLWNyaXNpcw?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMifmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LnRoZWd1YXJkaWFuLmNvbS9lbnZpcm9ubWVudC8yMDI0L21hci8wMi9pdC1tYWtlcy1tZS1zby1zYWQtY2h1cmNoLXJlZW1lcmdlcy1mcm9tLXJlc2Vydm9pci1hcy1zcGFpbi1mYWNlcy1kcm91Z2h0c9IBfmh0dHBzOi8vYW1wLnRoZWd1YXJkaWFuLmNvbS9lbnZpcm9ubWVudC8yMDI0L21hci8wMi9pdC1tYWtlcy1tZS1zby1zYWQtY2h1cmNoLXJlZW1lcmdlcy1mcm9tLXJlc2Vydm9pci1hcy1zcGFpbi1mYWNlcy1kcm91Z2h0cw?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen https://news.google.com/articles/CBMiXmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmV1cm9uZXdzLmNvbS9ncmVlbi8yMDI0LzAzLzAxL3N0YXRlLW9mLWVtZXJnZW5jeS1kZWNsYXJlZC1pbi1zaWNpbHktZHVlLXRvLWRyb3VnaHTSAQA?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB%3Aen
  13. There are whole articles about eating road kill. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/may/27/accidental-meat-should-carnivores-embrace-eating-roadkill But what I want to know is why there are so many mustelidae having a sleep on the side of the A30, is there a pub nearby, maybe called The Badger.
  14. Not easily, but it may be that our (UK) high windspeed are from the south west, which is a more humid wind because it is warmer (close to mean sea surface temperature). That will increase the dew point temperature, so may cause frosting to happen more often. There is also the point that when windspeed increases, there are more thermal losses from a building, though these are generally offset but the high outside air temperatures and greater cloud cover which increases night time temperatures. It may be possible to position an ASHP so that the air outlet faces directly into the wind, this could overpower the airflow caused by the blower. But even this is highly unlikely as windspeed close to the ground is very low (why it is measured at 10m). If high wind speeds were a real problem, none of the ASHPs in coastal areas would be working, so I suspect that it may be one of those ridiculous statements that pops up every now and again.
  15. Pulling the shot out is a pain, much better strangled. Here is how a mathematician deals with them. Maybe @Garald can knock up a suitable ditty.
  16. This seems like it is going to become interesting, and expensive. Should be able to chip in with comments every now and again.
  17. I think you are just after a low power panel heater. They are basically just a heating element in a metal box that hangs in a wall. Get one with just a thermostat and then they are basically just on or off. Only thing is, how is your electrical supply? They used to be very small and limited in France (12 kW I seem to remember). But Paris is more developed than Toulon, near to where I lived.
  18. I have never heard of an 'inertia heater'. I suppose my storage heaters have inertia, in a way. Infra-red seems to be only favoured by people that hate science and have already convinced themselves that they are the bees knees. If they were so fantastic, why are so few fitted.
  19. Right Did SBS make their own or can you pull one a part and see who makes the guts?
  20. As a general rule, accurate enough. A quick way to improve accuracy is to use temperature anomalies rather than absolute values. anomaly Tmeasured - Tmean = Tanomaly That way any offset from the true temperature (accuracy) becomes irrelevant and any linear or non linear precision drifts is reduced. To make it even better, false readings can be filtered out as they precision around the central tendency, or mean.
  21. Something like this.
  22. Do they not have a word filter. I am going to join. Who was Richard the Ninth? I am off to do a morning Third.
  23. Why burn it, that just contaminates the air. You could turn the small stuff into compost, and let the larger stuff rot down more slowly. Just this Sunday was a bit on GQT about it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001wrjs
  24. If it is in tomorrows Daily Mail then we will hear about it. Or Reform's manifesto.
