  1. And add an extra 300mm of insulation on the long North wall.
  2. Not sure old people need instant. Perfect temperature. It's what we keep our house at. About my favourite temperature as well. There is a bit to much hair shirtery when 20°C is quoted, even though that is about my mean temperature.
  3. Not excessively hot and well within the capabilities of all heat pumps. Just a case of designing it correctly and making sure there are not too many losses though the fabric of the building.
  4. @CalvinHobbes What room temperature are you trying to reach? This is what determines your heat source. You can if you want do a combination heating systems i.e. wet ASHP and an A2AHP. I was at my Mother's Care home yesterday, noticed that there is a number of ASHPs on the building. Had a little route about and it seems the place is heated with them, why the radiators do not seem hot, but they are near enough on all the time.
  5. Then I can show you my indoor garden
  6. There is two schools of thought here: If they grew well last year, they will grow well this year Don't plant the same thing in the same spot. There is a number of reasons for the second one, usually involving contamination. This year I have planted stuff in containers, but kept them indoors. Potatoes, onions and some chillies (I have no luck with these at all). Shall wee what happens.
  7. Friend of mine had a small flat in South London. She wanted to convert the garage space into a tiny studio flat. I suggested that she buy a camper van. She did and when friends stayed, she used the camper. When friends where not staying, she often went of exploring.
  8. Only 3 things to check really. The k-value, the moisture absorbency and the compression deflection/strength.
  9. One day I want to see the same car win every round. Nearly got there with the one car I had a minor involvement with in 1988.
  10. While taking away his drill, long crosshead screwdriver and Stanley knife. Of all the trades, electricians should understand resistance and insulation best.
  11. Have down here on the North Coast. About 12 years ago a load of houses where built in St. Agnes, most have ASHPs.
  12. Real fire tonight then.
  13. You could make your own cheap meter. https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/blogs/entry/946-the-energy-meter-experiment/
  14. 0.18 [W.m-2.K-1] x 90 [m2] x 20 [ΔT] = 324 W Have you got a factor of ten error somewhere? (I know that is just the floor, but it is to highlight the possibility of an error)
  15. Or the radiators are the wrong size.
  16. I can get half hourly data from EDF. I would be surprised if it cannot be got in France.
  17. It is a slow day, everyone is stuck at the A30 roadwork between Carland Cross and Chiverton. Keep quiet about the £8m from the EU.
  18. There is probably less suitable roofs than we imagine.
