  3. Hello All, I suppose I should let you all know who I am. My name is Craig and I've been in the passivhaus industry now for nearly 10 years and built up my knowledge and understanding from friends, colleagues and learning about the methods and different construction methods etc. I've mainly been involved in the supply of windows and doors and Im basically the tech guy at Ecowin/Gaulhofer Windows & Doors in the UK. I'm not here to self promote or claim we are better than everyone else but I'am happy to help anyone with my knowledge and understanding. I recently turned 40 (ouch), I have 3 wonderful kids and I was recently surprised to be informed of an impending fourth. As mentioned, I do work for Ecowin/Gaulhofer and I'm not here to generate sales or push products or claim we are better than anyone else, as a lot of good suppliers/manufacturers exist (a lot of poor ones also). If I can be of any help, please let me know. Thanks Craig

  5. If it's free standing, then that removes a fair bit of hassle, as you can treat it pretty much like a small self-build. In that case, I think a timber frame package of some sort may well be a good option. You get a quick build, that can be watertight in less than a week with many systems, and that alone takes a fair bit of risk out of the costings, as it minimises delays to the later work.

  9. I have two guns with different types of foam on them. I leave them on all the time with no problems, certainly more than 30 days. Just remember to turn the valve off when you finish foaming.

  11. I was thinking that too, and many others too no doubtedly, hence the statement at the end in the credits "This build was monitored by building control".... More of a concern is my wife's grumbling as to why our (or "your house" as she puts it these days) is taking more than 3 yrs to build.....

  12. Take a walk around the house you currently live in (inside and out) with a note pad. Little things we forgot or didn't know we needed.. TV aerial and cable (although I remembered the distribution amp and cables to all rooms). Rain guards/bird cages on the chimney. Rubber boots between our rainwater down pipes and the 110mm drains Security cameras (should have put in wire for them when building). Spare slot in the consumer unit for the later shed (remembered one for the garage and outside power point). Driveway edging/conservation curbs. Linear drains for the patio and where driveway meets road. We also needed an extra course of bricks due to miss calculation I think. Sure there are others.
