But nor will they have approved the revised plans either if they ‘lost’ them surely? I’m not defending the council but surely you don’t go ahead with any radical changes without getting the necessary approvals? Might only have heard half the story though. But the ‘not in keeping’ argument again. There has to be some movement towards more modern designs being accepted surely or we will just keep creating the same thing over and over, from decades or even centuries ago.

Interesting. There's clearly more going on than is reported in the article.

Indeed. I just edited it to say that actually.

Surely if a building does not match the approved plans, the enforcement action should be to change it so it does (e.g change the cladding) not totally demolish it?

As Dave says they could put a an ugly brick cladding on it. Not sure about the ‘too high’ comment though.

Yes you can buy it on rolls from any reputable wallpaper emporium.

Reading the article it looks like the council found the lost drawings and then sent out another enforcement notice, perhaps on different grounds to the first one.

So the planners approve one thing, something else gets built. Where is Building Control in all this? Surely part of their remit must be to ensure what gets built is what was approved?

Building control are to do with safety, efficiency etc, they are not at all concerned with the planning side of it
