We are planning on installing a Leicht kitchen (German manufactured) and are talking to a local showroom.

I was wondering, is it worth shopping around, or am I going to get quoted the same price no matter what?

@nod I see your only 40 minutes away, so it would be easy to use a supplier in Preston, could you PM me details of who you used?

I can’t help on cost as I didn’t shop arround once I had decided on the brand but I have fitted a Liecht kitchen and I’m really pleased with the quality.

I guess like everything though a lot is down to the quality of the fitter.

We are also considering a Leicht kitchen but cost is an issue, definately shop around and know exactly what you are comparing. I have been informed that kitchens ordered now will not be delivered until week 52. Any info on lead times? @ryder72

I’m also finding that living in a National Park and World Heritage site has an effect on labour and material prices, so I’m willing to travel for the best price.

@volcane wow, I hadn’t considered that the lead time would be quite so long, are Lecht kitchen made to order?

This is the sort of kitchen we have in mind https://www.facebook.com/LakelandKitchens/photos/a.1474783049482171/1756204731340000/?type=3

Yes we are stuck between using

Preston’s kitchens Nobelia

and WB preston Nolte

In fareness there’s not much between then

I intend fitting the kitchen myself

But if I wasn’t Preston’s fitting package looks quite reasonable

No kitchen on earth is worth £27,000. Mark ups are ridiculous.

I’m glad I’m not married. GF has no say in my build, even if she thinks different.

That was my thought, I just can see £27,000 of value in a kitchen. My first house cost less!

Poggenpohl make me laugh. £40,000 for mdf cabinets.

Well the quote for our Leicht kitchen is in, £27,000.

Remind me, what was Plan B.........

Thats crazy, I know it’s a variable thing (size, number of units etc) but my Liecht kitchen was nothing close to that.

I'm proud to have a DIY kitchens kitchen.  My sister, who has a craft built kitchen, visited them with me and said she would never pay for what she had done again as she loved them.

Just fitted a DIY kitchens one and it’s pretty much perfect. Contrast the Howdens one I fitted last week for a similar value and they are chalk and cheese.

I've just realised that "DIY Kitchens" is an actual company and you've not actually built your own kitchen!!!

Dare I ask how many base units you bought and cost?

Mine is now half way through being fitted.  It is brilliant.  They are fully rigid and come complete with doors etc, really well packed with cardboard corners, folded so that the corners have extra protection. The carcase, drawers etc are the same colour as the doors (or you can have contrast if you wanted).  All the doors have protected film on them

I've got 6 base units, 3 tall units and one wall unit for just over £2,000 and laminate worktops (they do granite etc as well).  Soft close doors and drawers.  My fitter is well impressed with it and says it is much better than the last one (Howden's) he fitted.

They are made to order in their own factory.  The DIY refers to design and install, I think.  20181004_114206.thumb.jpg.70141b06946b745d1455f63e1cb98880.jpg

@Jude1234 Thanks

Looking even better now as the long worktop is on.

Tomorrow it's the island and the last tall unit

WTF - lovely kitchen BUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

Some people definitely have more money than sense - that's referring to the original purchaser more than the second hand one LOL

Also a DIY Kitchens customer - super easy, fully assembled. One added bonus when I got mine (not sure if it's still the case) was that all the 'hardware' (door hinges, specialist openers etc) is 'Blum' and comes with something like a 25 year or lifetime guarantee.

Just a pain that I think they've upped their minimum order amount to £750 otherwise I'd order more of it for other cabinetry projects around the house. Have been using IKEA instead which are also perfectly fine, just an extra step to assemble.
