As soon as the grey is dry I'll rip it out and try again taking on board all the above. me -- i would chuck the red bits and use the 4 pink things that are very flexible and get in corners little else will . practise on some waste -nail a couple of bits together to make an angle to practise on- chamfer them half way through at 45 to give the gap like you got on your bog . Onoff
Had a go on a bit of MDF: White is Forever White, grey is Mapei: Same tool, same nozzle. Go figure??? Doesn't help I've run out of beer...well, beer that I want to drink.
PeterW
You’ve used it on a porous surface that will pull the moisture from the sealant back into the board. FWIW I hate that forever white stuff as it’s not a true silicone and it skins too quickly. If you’ve got Mapei grey, I would get a tube of Mapei white as I never have a problem with that. Imo the two tests on the MDF are perfect. Happy with either.
newhome
Looks like you’ve already used the grey round the shower wall. Less in your face as the white so probably more forgiving.
Tennentslager
I know you want to diy the lot and hats off to you for humour, instruction and beer/bathroom pics but...I was so surprised that on the last day of our extension build two guys appeared as the mastic crew. they had every brand, nozzle and colour you could imagine. They whizzed around the kitchen, toilet and outside door and window seals in a jiffy and were a joy to watch. Obviously they had the knack and technique and every job was close on perfect. I didn’t even know there was such a specialised trade...skill you could get a business out of. if you can, get a man in, that’s all

Yep, when it’s done by real professionals they are amazing. Most people are crap at it. Definitely something that those building a new house should add to their list. But I have also seen a lot of hotel mastic which I can only assume they get specialist's in for and they may as well have covered a hamster in said colour and let it loose. Onoff will get this close enough. I have faith

ToughButterCup
I'm thinking of publishing the definitive work on tiling using only this thread and its photographs. Due to be released on on an unsuspecting public by the well-known publishing house Floggit and Runn Should sell well.

Very little waste when I tooled those samples.
scottishjohn
cut at 45 to 60 angle so you can have gun at an angle . get it perfect and there will be no waste at all
scottishjohn
To get a nice half round or oblong shape bead for sealing door skins we cut that shape out of one side of knozzle . other side was cut square and drag it so the shaped side was at back ,so you get this shaped bead left behind play about with knozzle size and cut angles. you don,t need to get that tricky Edited February 9, 2019 by scottishjohn

Construction Channel
Depends on the brand but I find a lot of nozzles have guide lines for cutting.

I appreciate all your advice but you're pretty back and white at times! You can't say cut square doesn't work when I've tried it and put up the photos of the results that imo are perfect. If you want to "argue" in the face of absolute proof I'm at a loss. I will likely try cutting at an angle too as I'm unable to get the gun in now under the wc. Pocster
I agree the fugee shape things are a joy and give great finish . Also I think less is more with mastic . When I use the structural silicone it cures in 10 minutes so I really have to move . With mastic etc. you do have time .

Apologies if I missed the bit about them being twice as wide as they need to be previously. I'll now aim for a thinner bead from the off.
Onoff
Cramer Fugi kit ordered (via a student Amazon Prime account ) Thanks @PeterStarck. Some idiot forgot to position the bath prior to filling it up with water do had to drain & refill! All grouted now. Wouldn't have believed the amount the deck "sank" with water in the bath. Must have been a good mm. Another top tip from @Nickfromwales! Pipes for the towel rad grouted in too. Edited February 10, 2019 by Onoff
