There is, however, an intrepid band of pioneers out there. Eager adopters who say the country is ready to go heat pump crazy - and that they can prove it with their own hard data. These are the heat pump geeks.

Whilst I log my energy use including what is used by the heat pump and am happy with it, I would not say I agree with "The country is ready to go heat pump crazy"

I firmly believe a heat pump installed in the right situation and set up properly works well.  But I don'r believe all the UK's housing stock is ready for heat pumps and I don't believe there are enough installers to do it properly, and any mass rollout into unsuitable housing with poor installers will just end up in huge disappointment.

Agreed. As our house is pretty old, I'm also a member of a couple of historic/restoration Facebook groups. The amount of posts I've seen asking why their heat pump performance is so poor is staggering.

I guess they haven't heard of AIM before APE...

I'm that bad. I'v eordered the OEM heat pump monitoring kit for the new heat pump. I want to know that it really is working as it is supposed to.

If you read some of the negative comments on youtube heat pump videos you won't think that the country will be rushing to install heat pumps; apart from anything else they are stupidly expensive as a retrofit when done properly.

These are the same people that run speed tests on their computers and talk about the results on forums.

Where, I want to crunch numbers faster.

Or do I.  If it takes two hours to sort and calculate a large spreadsheet, I can go out.
