dogman
OK so my certificate arrived from the air test people and it's now 0.39 as they had the wrong volume in the program Edited August 20, 2017 by dogman

Jeremy Harris
I'm guessing that this is the Part L1a figure, which is m3/m2 internal surface area/hour at 50 Pa pressure differential, rather than the far more sensible air changes per hour figure that everyone else in the world seem to use................ j_s
I was discussing air tests with my builder. His 2 semi detached houses he recently built were 3.6 or 3.7 I think. He had to deliberately make them a bit worse otherwise mvhr would be needed which for some cheap semis in Hucknall would be an eyebrow raiser. I'm glad I picked him to do our work. Yes ideally they would be more airtight and mvhr used but the plans didn't have it included. Edited August 19, 2017 by j_s
dogman
Sorry been to Norfolk for weekend and we do not get a mobile signal and there is no broadband figure is . 0.39AC/HR
dogman
Following on from the air test the insulation guys turned up. Now I know they said there was a lot but an artic load After Three days still had all this left for the roof. The machine that blows it in is in their van with one person loading, and another with a long hose filling. Holes are cut with saw and filled, plugged and taped.
Barney12
Crickey. How big is your house? I hope they don't think they'll be delivering mine on an lorry that size. It will take them a long time to walk it down a bale at a time
Jeremy Harris
I was a bit taken aback by the sheer volume of warmcell that arrived to insulate our build. I think we had two trucks a bit smaller than that artic, as there wasn't room to store the stuff. This is what our kitchen/dining room looked like not long after the first truck load was delivered:

dogman
@Barney12 If you are next for the team then its 14-16 pallets according to the lads here. Some stats to get you thinking. 40 bales on each pallet Each bale is 12kg so 480 kg.per pallet 20 of mine went in the roof. So the house is now 9.6 tonnes heavier with nearly 5 tonnes in the roof

The guys should finish the membranes etc this week (although it's taking them longer than they anticipated). Thats some weight! I hope theyve got got a smaller lorry. dogman
So the next stage starts. The render company started today. Spent the morning waiting for deliveries and started fitting the base rail and vent strip this afternoon. We have gone with Pro rend system to get the full warranty, installed by an approved contractor. Should take a week but i don't envy them as the render boards are 12.5mm 8'x4' sheets http://www.sas-europe.com/prowall-rainscreen-cladding-systems/
dogman
The render is finished Took a lot longer than they quoted but it has come out better than expected. The fake arch heads ready for render Base coat Finished just need to tidy up The colour will lighten to a fawn and it was getting dark so it is not that pink
Jeremy Harris
I love the brick slip "lintel" detail, looks really neat. How are they going to deal with the small area under the brick slips and above the windows?

Barney12
Looking good! Mine is still plodding on, weather has meant that we're only averaging 2-3 days a week rendering Whats the plan with the facia and soffits? Edited October 11, 2017 by Barney12 Typo
dogman
We stuck with sawn timber for fascia, and barge boards. The soffits are UPVC. Guttering is fake cast iron that had to be swapped as the first lot melted in the sun. (remember that hot weather). Will take photo later Will finish off everything at roof level next week and look to take down scaffold ASAP. @Barney12 Probably not as far on as you inside as only just started the soil pipes and some first fix wiring. Is this yet another b**** up about to happen! Guys any views on when cills should go ob before or after render? Liz I've always understood it to be cills first. But, I cant really see any reason why they couldn't fitted afterwards as long as they are a good fit. Remember that the window company may be making the cills as per the width of the windows. However, once you've rendered your window reveals the measurement will be less.
Bitpipe
Our render firm wanted cills on first also. Held us up a week as they were the wrong RAL and had to be sent off to be powder coated again.
