Russell griffiths
Evening all, I need a double pocket door set, I’m not after cheap I want good, hassle free smooth running. Im looking for the Mercedes version if there is one. The klug ones are around £250 and the eclisse ones about £400. What have you fitted ? and what did you like/ dislike. Cheers. the_r_sole
Have used Coburn ones before which were pretty good, the eclisse is probably the nicest action I've seen
Rob99
We have Eclisse and very happy with it. Seemed pretty sturdy when the carpenter fitted it. The running track is a very substantial aluminium extrusion and doesn't deflect at all even with our heavy door. Runs very smooth too.
Mr Punter
The architect on my scheme has put in a pocket door. So annoying, especially as the rest of that level is done in blockwork. AHHH!!! I think I will just leave an opening if BC accept it. It is second only to curved walls as an expensive ball-ache.
Onoff
I put a £25 SLIK sliding door gear atop a standard door. Surprisingly quiet when lubed with graphite lock spray from Lidl. ?
Russell griffiths
Thanks everyone i asked this somewhere else and 9 out of 10 answers where eclisse better start saving up.
puntloos
Just resurfacing this to see if anything has changed. My sense is that eclisse is still somewhat 'meh' but has the best marks. Also I suspect having 'as light as possible' door material might help with the system running smoothly and staying running smoothly? Or anyone have any other brands worth looking at? Never fitted them on my own house for the following: They start off working great. But. 1/ The kids get lego in them. 2/ They are manky as you can't get into hoover out the track. 3/ You have a thick wall. 4/ We don't live in Japan so the while they may look great in isolation? 5/ What will happen if you are the one who gets a duff set of bearings.. what is you strategy for fixing the running mechanism.
markc
The factory we use in Italy built a very flash new office block (making too much money ?). They fitted pocket doors and quickly realised they hated them, yes they look sleek but awful to use and sometimes get stuck.
Temp
+1 only use pocket/sliding doors if no alternative. Pain for general use as you can't really open and close them as quickly.
Pocster
Eclisse . Right pita to fit and company were assholes also . Looks good though ?
Onoff
Get some nice cheap, sloppy Slik door gear. It's the AK47 of the pocket door world, it just works!
