  1. I used specific paint for new plaster. Same paint I used everywhere else. It was just this wall I had a problem with and the only difference was I didn’t leave it as long to dry as everywhere else. It was also just the bottom 1.5m of the wall. Above this to the vaulted ceiling was fine.
  2. I left ours for three weeks apart from one wall which I did after 4 days when it looked dry. I had nothing but trouble with that one wall with the second coat lifting the mist coat off. I had to sand the lifted bits back and even fill in a few places and use a Gardz product to seal it properly then paint it. Was a right pia.
  3. I have full HDR full resolution etc so it works fine. I’ve also had two monitors plugged into both ports the main TV and a shitty old TV with no problems.
  4. Yes this will likely cause you problem if you come to sell the house. A picture of the whole front of the properties would help but as it stands it can’t stay like that.
  5. It shouldn’t make any difference really. Monitor 1 allows CEC, ARC, eARC whereas monitor 2 doesn’t so you should always use monitor 1. Mine is still on Auto (dual) display. Eta oh and you thick (expletive deleted) just for completeness. Take the Denon back to RS and see if they can replicate the problem.
  6. What does it drain into? And has there ever been a problem in heavy rain? Presumably his house is the one on the left.
  7. He’s added the downpipe too? What’s at the other end of the guttering on the right? Was the gutter overflowing and that’s why he added it? Did he also raise the gutter on the right as it’s sloping towards this downpipe. What am asking really is what problem was he trying to solve? That aside if he’s put something on your land you can remove it but the water from the downpipe will then be right beside the house. It’s unlikely to cause flooding as there won’t be too much water but yes it would be better if there was a soakaway for it to drain into.
  8. Scunner. I don’t stream much as moved back to physical media.
  9. The spec list says the Vertex2 has 4 inputs and 2 outputs? No use to me if it only has 2 inputs.
  10. It is a switcher. It even says as much on their website (among many other things it does)
  11. Keep us updated on the dear HDMI switcher! I’m using a cheap powered HDMI splitter but only because I don’t have an HDMI cable long enough. I wonder if it’s actually masking a similar problem.
  12. As I mentioned I’ve never encountered this problem. I don’t have a specific Apple TV device right enough as I just use the app but do have multiple other devices all connected to the Denon. One of the main points of an AVC like the Denon is to take multiple devices and output them via one or other of their two outputs. Adding more boxes cables and another PSU is crap especially at the huge cost of that Vertex device. If it works it works.
  13. On the discrepancies we hardly had a drawing that didn’t have a mistake on it. The architect even submitted the wrong drawings for planning (had to be re-submitted causing an 4 week delay) and an old version of the drawings for the building warrant (I’ll have to submit a variation when we get to final sign off)
  14. I’m probably 50/50 in terms of trades and me. My intention was the majority of the build done with trades for speed but we were beset with problems early on and I ended up taking over a lot of the work.
  15. The Denon overlays are quite comprehensive. You can see some of the information on the built in screen but it’s easier to change settings via the TV overlays. You also need it when setting up the speakers/video as it has a setup wizard.
  16. You can generally set HDCP per HDMI source. The options are typically 1.4 and 2.3. I can fix that to one of those both on the AVC and the TV or select auto where the amp will match the TV. HDCP used to be a pia on the PS5.
  17. I’ve never had this happen with any AVR. In fact the way I’m doing it at the moment is sub-optimal as I have the Firestick plugged into the Denon rather than the telly and the Denon is connected to the telly using two random HDMI cables and a powered splitter. This is because both really expensive HDMI cables routed inside the wall somehow got damaged so neither work. Check that HDCP is set the same on every device. If it’s on auto manually change it. There’s a lot going on with a modern AVR/telly or projector and various input devices. Handshaking between them can be a PIA unfortunately.
  18. Good stuff. If you place your single sub carefully then it’s generally fine. It’s worth trying different positions for the sub. Remember the sub should be relatively subtle.
  19. 7PE Graf here. Easy enough to install. We don’t have a high water table so no worries about it popping out the ground when it’s due a pump out. The blower unit for the Graf is quite big and sits out of the ground so if it’s in your garden it could be visible. Fortunately it can be cited remotely from the PTP (up to 25m from memory) or obviously can be hidden. I fitted an external socket inside my blower unit to power the unit (rather than hard wiring it) That also gives me power down that end of the field. The blower units aren’t noisy but not silent either. Ours switches off and on rather than constantly running so uses less electricity. What is noisier is the process where the water exits the tank to the outflow. Makes a bubbling noise that’s accentuated by the SVP that exits just after the tank. Not an issue for us as it’s a long way from the house. More an issue for our sheep. You might find that your local suppliers only stock certain brands. They are quite dear to transport from further afield. Therefore I’d phone around see what’s stocked locally before deciding.
  20. I’d prefer to pay a local tractor driver to come and move the three bulk bags up to the drive. But then what to do with it! I can lose some it here and there but not all of it. I could lose it around the country side The Great Escape way. 😂
  21. I have 2500kg of ballast in bulk bags that the groundswork guys put there with their digger. It’s on the top of our cliff that I was going to use to hold down PV panel boxes. However I’ve changed my plans on that so now need to move them from there 300m along the cliff, over a burn and up the hill.
  22. 😂 I noted that the cheapest one I saw is a standard wheelbarrow with a motor and a battery. Does 7km/h.
  23. No experience but video the first time use as it drags you face down through the garden.
  24. I didn’t think you could tee off existing supplies? £9500 (£6500 really I guess for the connection) is a shitload. All of the plant for our borehole (and there’s a fair amount) was less than that.
  25. We got a few quotes with the cheapest being £5000. I couldn’t justify the expense (or afford it) so I read as much as I could including watching the John Cullen webinars and did it myself. It’s very easy to make the lighting design far better than what is typical but quite hard to make it a showpiece of your home which is where a lighting designer comes in. If you don’t want that then it’s perfectly doable yourself to come up with a lighting scheme that is better and more thoughtful than most other houses you’ll visit.
