  1. The Building control officer also pointed out we were not using approved plans which was 'not great'. Like yikes! The ones we have from the architect were blessed by a structural engineer so I hoped would suffice and as the bc said, they are allowed (didn't sound ecstatic). Anyway I found some older pics and here is the part of the plan too. TBF I do appreciate the bc flagging up things, the builder assured me he had a plan to deal with it anyway and was sorry he missed the BC officer.
  2. Hello, sheesh thought I would come on and ask advice yet again. Building control was out and said we appear to have a massive cold bridge at door. So the metal beam goes over the door and connects to another that meets a post going up (was that a wind post) so forming a sideways L shape shape. The cavity is behind it. Bit scunnered tbh. There was a change of builders and the second ones are having to fix things . Bah. Feel free to tell me something good.
  3. Quick question. Cladding sides of house with corrugated, down to first floor level. Below will be rendered. Should the blocks under the cladding have a coat of anything? Obviously doing air tightness from inside anyway. If so what?
  4. Tremendously appreciated! I have sent him your comments and will report back.
  5. I keep thinking that too. Anyone recommend a mechanical services engineer?
  6. So 2nd quote in and it gave quite a lot of info. Only thing is they missed that it's 3 phase. Is there anything you think I should ask? Also I thought we had to get aluminium rads upstairs?
  7. The plumbers merchants has a special dept that sells them and specs the radiators etc. Ok thanks will try and use the midsummer option and maybe look for a mechanical services person
  8. Big claims! https://www.passivuk.com/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1ovd8DQaM-6jCnxs4uglG8db7OencZPmAdKJSrJs_IpilfouvAbI-3N9w_aem_AVglJcz9Ewfw5gnqkQkV4mGwc6CgwBMCr2psdOZTzl1rfR7xjxVnermE5HKMG3fkn32BZzWWU7TdZIc73yuxaNwV
  9. Who could I send my plans to so we can get the plumbing done to suit the ASHP so pipe sizes and radiators, ground floor is correctly sized and we can get on with it while shopping around for the actual pump or even go 2nd hand? A lot are ripping them out I hear due to crazy electric bills. Ni hasn't got its grants in place yet, nor sufficient trained installers. The plumbers merchants told us we would need a 10kw ashp so looking on eBay just to see!
  10. Ah, much appreciated 😃
  11. We are opening a door from a bedroom to a toilet to make it ensuite but to save room I was thinking of using a pocket door. However they are costly. So now thinking I could use 2 half vertical doors like a wardrobe. How do I describe this or what do I look for?
  12. I said to all to use recirculating hood not vented but was asked what if we used this? Obviously I don't want to compromise our near passive standards.
  13. Do you mind me asking, how do you heat your water?
  14. does this include if you are using AMTICO SPACIA LVT SPICED TIMBER FLOORING (its only 2.5mm? Also thinking about using a metal staircase to stop squeaks , not sure how that would land on the floor. Will carpet it.
  15. So you fail the meter guy if you fit 1?
  16. Hiya, how many commando sockets can you put in a temporary supply (single phase 16v) to obey building regs?
  17. Thanks the spark messaged me today to say he sorted it. I am heading over tomorrow to await network guys who will in theory connect a meter and we will be rocking. Will take a pic and update. Cheers.
  18. Honestly, no point. I just need to sort it. Exasperating though. I have had so many of these nasty surprises to fix Sheesh. Thats a good idea, will ponder. Cheers.
  19. Honestly, feeling like banging my head against the wall. The £$%^ that put this in did it fecking wrong. He handed me the door and said to take it away or it would get broke. The electrician went to put on the door today and its upside fecking down so the pins that hold on the door by gravity are arse about face. When the network guys come on Thursday when they unlock it - it will fall off. The pins are embedded in the door. How can we attach the door? I really try not to swear but there are times.....
  20. That's worrying when he is telling me it's 11.6! Thanks.
  21. How did that go? Our architect planned in radiators upstairs but where we live now which isn't passive we never have the heat on upstairs. I am thinking we could do like you and lose the radiators upstairs just keeping the ashp downstairs.
  22. I can see he hasn't specified the make of the panels, plus we dont need the eddi since we will have an ashp. Also we will hold off on batteries. I would like one of those switches that means we can use our own electric if the neighbourhood electric is shut off. What should I ask him? Scaffolding already there.
  23. Thanks to ye all. Mea culpa. I misunderstood the electrician re the three phase. I got them talking and all sorted. Well sort of...we agreed stage 1 which was to get the panels on the roof while scaffold up. Stage 2 is the inverter. 11.6kw going up.
  24. So went to the fire station. After a debate they agreed what they would do is put them in the utility room with a heat sensor. As long as branded batteries installed by MCs then grand.
