Flip sake, took a notion and asked Chat GPT. Read this... "The exact percentage difference in heating efficiency between Amtico LVT and ceramic tiles can vary based on factors such as: Thickness of the flooring Insulation in your home Efficiency of your underfloor heating system However, as a general guide, the thermal conductivity of different materials can give a rough idea: Ceramic Tiles: These are excellent conductors of heat, with a thermal conductivity of around 1.1 - 1.3 W/m·K. Amtico LVT: Vinyl flooring typically has a thermal conductivity in the range of 0.1 - 0.3 W/m·K. Based on this, ceramic tiles can transfer heat approximately 3-10 times more efficiently than LVT. This doesn’t mean your heating bill will increase by 3-10 times with LVT, as other factors like insulation and how efficiently the system is set up play a big role. In terms of heating cost differences, it could translate into an increase of about 10-20% in energy consumption, depending on the specifics of your heating system and insulation. For a passive home, which is already energy efficient, the impact might be on the lower end of this scale".

So we have a load of amtico for the ground floor which will have underfloor heating. Went to a bathroom store today and selected loos, showers, taps etc. He also sold tiles, wood appearance , R11.....he said it was better than lvt because it acts like insulation on the floor and he reckoned made it 20% more expensive to heat a house. Is this true?

Feeling stressed, walked round the site this evening. Plastering has started, probably will move in end of November. I don't know what made me think we could do this, till it's signed off I guess we haven't. It's been way harder and more expensive than I thought. What about you, if it wasn't plain sailing, at what point did you feel it was worth it?

Bed on stilts - self build or off the shelf purchase?
CalvinHobbes replied to Adsibob's topic in General Joinery
I was looking at furniture in Lux for grandchildren and saw some of these, the blue one was on a resell site and has sold so sadly I can't show you the other pics but it has a table you slide out. Mobili seems really good even for inspiration. Perhaps you could do something similar and put a table underneath. Otherwise look at loft beds, plenty of designs. Very popular in Lux, Japan etc. -

Yep fridge freezer on right so thats why we wanted the oven on the left. He has come back at us with this, i thought it was unwise to put an oven next to the fridge freezer? -

Just thought I would show you the revision. We cannot change the door so working within the parameters. I think the microwave looks a bit imbalance size wise alongside the oven....might move it on top but would prefer at the same level for accessibility, meh. I know too it doesn't quite go to the window. Bah, not much I can do about that. Re the induction hob, going with recirculatory, read comments about cold spots in kitchen with vented and not going through all this mega insulating and ensuring there are no holes to make a big un. Read something too about plasma filters??? I know I should have done all this ages ago but run off my feet and doing overtime to help pay for it lol. Meeting the spark at 10. I have whittled it down to a choice of 3 hobs https://donaghybros.co.uk/samsung-nz84t9747vk-ur-infinite-range-combi-hob-with-recirculation-built-in-extractor-fan.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwlbu2BhA3EiwA3yXyu4cPoHfm8Udu_7DDS_a7whsyyW5QF_0tGnEEfUc6s9cEikgDH8d0ThoCrB4QAvD_BwE (bells and whistles) https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/eiq80indd/electriq-eiq80indd--4-induction-hob-hob?utm_source=awin&utm_campaign=531573_ShopForward+CSS&utm_medium=affiliate&refsource=awin&sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=531573&awc=74734_1724898895_3a498932d9d11043e6b0a3664552aea8 (Cheap & cheerful but good reviews) https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/foerdelaktig-induction-hob-integrated-extractor-ikea-700-black-90534852/ Scored well and can get it on 0% -

Would this fit in an island? Looking at the recirculatory rather than ducting. Seems a lot better price wise than neff although neff has a better duct shape. Was going to put a dishwasher in the island too and more drawers https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/eiq80indd/electriq-eiq80indd--4-induction-hob-hob?refsource=apadwords&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_id=21235198742&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrKu2BhDkARIsAD7GBotRrXpYZHbCvi9v8XvbVPl9fLuGyYn8gRVsiOC5_969tfBVYTq88rUaAjRGEALw_wcB -

Hello, son and partner were home and told us we were mad to put oven under hob, we should raise it to counter level and put in a built in microwave on top. We are getting a sinarp kitchen from Ikea but because we have a utility room intended not having any top cupboards and just decided on 3 drawers to keep it sleeker since its open plan. The only problem is now son thinks we should raise the oven after seeing the other grandparents struggling with their kitchen. So yes we can do it just not sure where best? We even considered just putting it into the utility room. Problem is I would need to get the wire run on Monday because the plasterer is coming in and can't get a quick enough appt with ikea. I was thinking another option would be to put it where the fridge is going but then what about the fridge? Maybe our bosch fridge freezer could sit in the utility room? The utility room door is nearest the sink.

Decided to knock a door from spare bedroom into bathroom next door. Want to minimise how much door swings so thinking about wardrobe style doors hinges each side so half size. I don't want sliding or bifold. What size of opening do you think?

Our ceilings are ridiculously high but the plumber says because we are going with an ashp we need 2 tall radiators on each bedroom but I think it will look horrible. The house will be near passive. In the rented house I am in, which leaks like a sieve, we never use the radiators upstairs. I think we switched them on twice in 3 years. So why am I putting them in upstairs? We have nearly 12kw of solar panels on the roof. Could we not just use an electric heater if it needs a boost?

We are hoping to move into our new house before Christmas but jeez this last bit is expensive 😞. Stressfully so. Anyway today I was talking to the land and property services in NI and they said we were scheduled for a visit to issue a completion notice ? Anytime from the 1st December for three months. What if we don't have the building control guy signing off on it by then? Like I hope we do but not assuming anything. Plasterer about to start the scratch coat upstairs and outside, plumbing and ground floor to finish and staircase. Gonna stick in utility room and use it as a kitchen at the start.

Welcome and good 🤞 luck.

Delivered Heras fencing?

We bought ours and TBH quite a few have been wrecked. They will do to the end but unsaleable.
