  1. Access is about 1900mm wide
  2. The cabin seems fairly simple to assemble the bulk of it but the instructions are a bit sparse in a few areas. There's a lot of ambiguity regarding securing to the to base, no detailing of where to use the different fastenings and very little finish detail for this particular type of flat roof. None of it is rocket science but it would have been nice if it clearly showed the ideal finish. For example this model has a shallow angle flat roof with tall fascia boards around the cabin. Unless there are not enough roof boards to completely fill this area there's no indication as to how you should allow water to drain off the back of the roof. I shall be emailing them before I build to to confirm a few things.
  3. Hmm... the plans for the cabin show a (much) different height to the the nominal height figure in the promotional literature (2462mm vs 2240mm) Which would breach the PD rules if I continued along my current path.
  4. Can you imagine what he’ll be like when the pubs are OPEN?
  5. Is there a “Previously on Lost...” synopsis so I don’t have to read the entire thread to understand the current sitrep? I hope the network don’t lose interest and cancel the show leaving us with a rushed and deeply unsatisfying conclusion.
  6. All good grist for the mill. I need something to empty a hot tub so I hope the water is not lumpy and there should be plenty of head to prime it. Going with the cheap Draper model from the Station of Tools.
  7. It’s for clean water, just wondering if there was a preference for a particular brand. last thing I bought there was a huge difference in quality at the same price point. And the “better quality” item was the one that didn’t work!
  8. I bet the kitchen used to be bigger then.
  9. er... 'bijou'
  10. Is it me or has it been really wet? I wasn't sure but our garden has been sodden this winter unlike the last few years. For the first time. water pouring off the patio onto the grass has ruined it. Not happened before, will need some drainage.
  11. Any offers? From one of the sheds or Amazon for next day or so delivery?
  12. So this is a really simple Wunda system with a wireless receiver: https://cdn.wundatrade.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/E06-Wunda-single-zone-wireless-receiver-30-4-2018.pdf wireless thermostat: https://cdn.wundatrade.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/E04-Wunda-generic-E8.2rf-wireless-thermostat-27-4-2018.pdf It has been working for a while. The receiver has a solid red light on LED A. I can go through the pairing routine - press button for 4 seconds, LED flashes green. Then turns to red once thermostat has been set up to it. LED A goes solid red again. Then, when you try to turn the heating on via the thermostat, nothing. No flashing red LED A to show receiving a signal and no LED B green to show calling for heat. Just nothing as you alternate ON/OFF with the stat, timed or manual. Any idea?
  13. It’s not working ? Nothing is happening. Tried reconnecting the wireless receiver with the controller but nothing. Hmmmm...
  14. £250 seems to be the going rate, I just need to find enough work for them to fill 2 days ? log cabin electrics is a thought for another day but I think I will need to do a lot of the fitting work myself to get things (sockets conduits) where and how I want them. I will need an electrician to wire them.
  15. When I get the log cabin fitted out, I’m budgeting £250 a day for an electrician and expecting to be gouged for 2 days as well.
  16. Less than an hour and no travel. Seemed to be just at lunchtime between proper jobs.
  17. £60 - good guess in the OP Got him to do a few add on bits like an extension lead, a cheap projector, another rcd.
  18. Saw this by someone this morning: ”Households appoint their biggest boomer to attend parish council, which picks the biggest boomer to attend district council. District council's biggest boomer goes to to county council. County council's biggest boomer goes to westminster & westminster's biggest boomer becomes PM”
  19. ??? I had a look and couldn’t find it. I can’t believe that in was in the HB bible all along! There you go though, general stats on wages and inflation are not applicable to this. Does the ONS inflation basket cover building materials? Because the change in price of phone apps and avocados probably isn’t relevant to the cost of house building. Ultimately I don’t think what you want to know is indexable. I’m sure you’ll be shocked when you get some quotes. There seem to be 3 levels of price around. 1. Genuine self-build where people do a lot of their own work and the low costs incurred seduce other people that this is a good idea. 2. Mates rates where people know people and pay a reasonable price. 3. The real world price strata for people not in groups 1 & 2, where the costs start at an arm and a leg and rise to face ripping off extortionate.
  20. Prodave did it by doing the work himself. I’ll have a look for something about the relationship between trades rates and house prices, was a while ago though.
  21. I’m not sure why you are looking to the official inflation rates for inflation guidance. It is a massive failure that house price inflation is not reflected in the inflation numbers. It is my contention that build prices are more related to general house price inflation than any of the inadequate inflation indices that the ONS produce. This goes for anything trade related. The price depends on your house price as much as it does material costs and normal rates.
  22. Lory was delivered on Monday. Had to open the pallet today to move it from the drive to the garden. All 1.25 tonnes of it, one bit at a time. It is a thing of beauty. Masses of straight, machined timber. Smelled great too. Looking forward to putting it up. Not looking forward to all the work still needed to be in a position to put it up.
  23. The missus hasn’t worked and won’t be able to work for months so looking to sell/rent out anything that isn’t nailed down. Apparently there is demand for this sort of thing. As a minimum I’ve told her it will need a PAT as it’s 2 years old.
  24. 1. What’s the going rate to get someone to come and do a PAT on a single item like a spa? £60? £80? More? 2. Would it need to be at least half filled to test it? I.e enough water cover to test with the heater element operating? The air pump (bubbles/inflation) can be done empty obvs. @Onoff @ProDave
