  1. How many coal power stations do the Chinese commission each year?
  2. The comment its not working when they blow it up gets me. Obviously they're not blowing it up while burning coal. The point is it was shut down due to poor decisions. It was economically viable. Its like saying the landfill tax on the ash effects the viability. Just get rid of that tax for this byproduct. Job done.
  3. There is a rail line into ratcliffe iirc
  4. So surely you agree blowing up a functioning power station, when we still have coal in the UK is not a great idea?
  5. Yeh as I say, its crazy we are destroying all this infrastructure. We had a lot of it there. Can they capture any more of the bad particles nowadays with coal?
  6. Yes but also should be careful with the pennies. @JohnMo what did you pay?
  7. I remember it being cheaper than the equivalent u value in pir. Maybe its changed now.
  8. I wouldnt be choosing my insulation based on the packaging it comes in. Eps all the way for me if you have the depth. Cheaper and easier.
  9. I agree OP really should have removed the doors himself and given a spec. Or even engaged a surveyor and got them to get tenders for a spec for the job. But they won't...
  10. Case in point. The airport spotters will be gutted as well they love to get photos with the towers in the background.
  11. Quarter of a century of reliable power while altering the grid and infrastructure for the next phase of power. Sounds great 👍
  12. People will actually be sad when it blows up too. They like to see the cooling towers. Its all just insane.
  13. Reliable, secure, plentiful
  14. I still can't believe we are going to blow up ratcliffe on soar power station. I wonder if we will ever start using coal for electric again in the uk
  15. I did a Dunster house for someone that was excavate, membrane, compacted type 1, gravel grids with 10mm pea gravel.
  16. What about the undiscovered quantities i keep seeing being talked about. There could be a lot more than what is known?
  17. I just emailed some local office, god knows where I got their email and they dropped me loads of bits off. It was all very informal as I remember it around 2018. Last place in 2020 I didn't even bother with a fixed line connection. It wasn't in the regs then. Is there any way to opt out if it nowadays? I still use 5 and 4g for Internet now
  18. Whats the craic up there then? What do you have to have and what is extra?
  19. I think this is a regular thing. Even I've had that vibe lately.
  20. ? Ive not had any drawings done yet as not decided who im using yet. Hence the thread
  21. @Gus Potter i dont need any project management. I will sort all applications with utilities and highways. All I need is planning and building regs. Plot will be BNG exempt.
  22. How long is a piece of string but generally what are people paying for architects? Ive always used a riba architect previously and also had a PCC off them too. I think excluding the PCC I've usually paid around 2% of build cost. Not that the deal is a set % of build cost its just that's where the quote has come in. For planning and building regs no project management or anything like that.
  23. Volumetric guys do this regularly ive found. I've called them out on it before now. I reckon they get told to because the mixes aren't upto spec. Your footings will be fine.
