  1. Most inverters (i think 3kw and up) have two strings so easily to split into east west. 15m is no problem but maybe go up to 6mm (from 4mm) cable this helps with voltage drop on longer runs(So my installer said).
  2. Are you planning 1 inverter or multiple micro inverters?
  3. Just to follow on from the ventilation requirements for a garage. The garage is single block on the side build. What's the normal procedure for krend and vents ie stick vent on to wall then render or render then stick vent on to render. Has anybody any decent links for vents, I am looking for a stainless steel but all I have seen so far is isell.co.uk and simplystainless but they are mainly 304 and I would prefer 316 stainless. Have seen a few on eBay but have been stung with poor quality stainless before on there.
  4. I would be interested. Probably be looking for 20x trays. But is it worth the hassle, logistics? Bulk buy gets pretty complicated when everybody looking for different equipment for example there is 6x different landscape tray sizes to fit different size panels.....(windandsun website got decent UK prices) Nick managed to set up a nice deal for thermal stores but everybody sorted out their own equipment no come back on Nick for any mistakes. Maybe this would be a better route?
  5. Most icf suppliers do day courses. Money well spent even if it's the opposite and rules out ICF.
  6. Plenty on here including myself have used ICF On a diy basis. We are half way through parents build and will be using it again on my build hopefully starting in spring. We used nudara icf and happy to use it again but will be pricing about, also had a good look at amvic icf and was also impressed. As PeterW mentioned don't rule out simple concrete block if using local trades sometimes pays to keep it simple.
  7. Have you looked at EPS icf?
  8. Anybody know the ventilation size requirement for garages?
  9. I personally would not order windows until I need them. Our spec Inc size changed during build before ordering. I would be happy to order velux type windows before esp if they where offering £30 cash back on each window as just now. Plus they hold a decent resale value.
  10. If your are confident enough to invest your own cash in the currency market you are in the wrong job! Personally I would be spending lots of time on ebay/gumtree/ bidspotter etc looking for bargains to cover price increse. eg:- Roofshield with enough patience you can pick them up £70 a roll, cheapest I can find from a merchant is £100+vat roll. Odd lots of UFH pipe, 100m roll here 100m roll there . 2-3p meter. sockets picket up box of 50 schneider black nickel doubles for £60 There is a guy in inverness selling nice seconds Nordan windows..... Even keep a eye out for cheap tools picked up a immaculate dewalt(big one) router for £90, JS harris picked up a paint sprayer for peanuts. Sorry if this seems a bit of drift from the initial question but i am trying to get the point there is multiple ways to minimise future price change.
  11. Just checked my invoice. We where £66 ex vat per panel for all kit but it was 1 row of 18. It came from sagem via my local supplier/installer.
  12. Initially look a bit cheaper but remember to add on all the brackets, flashings etc. The price adds up to similar to UK.
  13. Agree, lots of extra bits in the GSE system.
  14. Maybe this is why the GSE seems more popular than easyroof!
  15. I did spend a bit of time trawling the internet for GSE kit in Europe with no luck. I would also be interested in a group buy aswell.
  16. Double check the price of the GSE, I was slightly more than £800 but I had 18 panels in a row ie 18 top flashing and 18 bottom flashings. If you split the panels in to two rows it would be half the flashing.
  17. He was a genuinely nice guy. Very sad.
  18. Cheers Ed. I asked the icf supplier before you replied and he said the same. Managed to pick up a reel in local tool station. We will be using conduit as much as possible plus if we over spray with insulation. This is for soffit lights etc.
  19. Need to run in a few cables quick to keep work moving. I remember somebody speaking about using some other cable (twin and earth) so it doesn't react with the eps in a ICF house, or am I cracking up??
  20. We once had a sticky valve on the pressure reducing valve that comes with a UVC. Made a slightly different nose as you are describing but worth checking.
  21. @PeterW we will be running a single inverter in the garage, it is a concern with cooling if did go the micro inverter route but hopefully the single inverter will work fine. I suppose we could run a extra MVHR intake and exhaust across the loft space, we have plenty of spare power in the MVHR unit???
  22. Not a big fan of the pop up sockets, seen more broken ones than working.
  23. Hopefully manage to wire them up in the rite order......??
  24. Regarding cables warranty, we made up extra 2m mc4 male/female cables and looped them into with a extra connection inside. The panel connectors are still between the panel and flashing. I was warned if we do anything to the mc4 connector on the panel the panel warranty would be invalid.
  25. 2 years long enough?? Is that big sheds (b&q, costco etc) just not a thin screed aswell?
