  1. @joe90 @Tetrarch can either of you recall what adhesive you used to stick your LVT to chipboard
  2. Is this a floating click floor? Is it noisy when upstairs (assumption) is walked on, from below?
  3. Thanks @Temp - Im going to do some digging here. They did slightly adjust it after my first approach, but it was very, very marginal (don't have the figure to hand). They are hard nosed, judging by the above. I did have a call from LPS yesterday, and I asked them to look at the date of "removal" on the basis that it is knocked, with pp, following the flood. Although their representative was sympathetic, Im not hopeful that that will yield a result, but I'll await - obviously, if they did some thing decent on the date, I'd be ok to suck up the rest, in the interests of the other stuff in my in tray. Your research is appreciated, thank you. Ill go into that www for some further reading - can you suggest a couple of search terms
  4. Thanks @Temp and a always appreciate the pointers. No sorries needed - I sometimes forget the questions i asked myself, when issues moves on. I'll check out this when to get to my pc.
  5. Can't find anything @Temp. It's newry, mourne and down district council. I need something, as I getting "that's the rules, no exceptions"
  6. thanks @markc
  7. A house - block cavity wall with sand and cement on the outside, and a mix of solid and stud walls inside, skimmed.
  8. Thanks @Conor - we have been setting about 1:4 aside, and AG will replace. I still think I was sold seconds, and I'll have this conversation with them, hopefully tomorrow
  9. Oh dear @TonyT, did I really write that...!!! A double barrell question, please. Im building new - masonry, with sand and cement - when can I PAINT the sand and cement, how do I know? - same question, indoors?
  10. Apparently, this damage is a result of a known problem on the production line conveyor belt, where each tile gets a knock - and it is now fixed!! They swear that it's of no consequence if face isn't damaged, and are happy to replace face damages - i dont honestly know, but wonder if usage and frost will cause further chipping. About 30% have been laid, but remainder not needed until 2 weeks. I'm finding it hard to decide if I should go with their offer, or tell them to replace all the unlaid batch? I'd like to roll on, but can't be a "saft gab" either!
  11. Thank you @ToughButterCup for taking the time! Im wondering how to explain that to my hasty builder. 🤔
  12. Thanks @DevilDamo. Half of being wise is knowing what you don't know (for certain)!
  13. A double barrell question, please. Im building new - masonry, with sand and cement - when can I plaster the sand and cement, how do I know? - same question, indoors?
  14. I'm building a 2 storey house. The following applies - one entire side of stairs is a solid wall - the first downstairs step is a quarter landing, because stairs immediately turns right - a handrail runs up from first step to top step without breaks My question, please. Can I start my spindles from step 3 (ie no spindles on quarter landing or the first step)?
  15. Yes, I agree as I see the damage in the bales. I think the builder is lacking by laying them too - should be set aside.
  16. Most of the damage in the bales is on the back side of the flag - maybe could be slightly more accepting here. Am I right to expect builder to only use perfectly faced tiles, every single time, or should I be saying same of all damaged backs?
  17. Thats kind of made me laugh - nice brand new Ignore above comment - I misread as "they look like used", as in second hand
  18. AG Canterra No, I think a reasonable approach is always to be applauded - and some may say good carma. Well done!
  19. Picture of as-built, which has had approval from the stove installer - see detail ablve, summarised as follows - heat shield with 25mm ventillation behind on one joist to reduce required clearance to combustion from 60mm to 30mm - collar above, made from wood at allowed regular 60mm clearance (heat shield comes into this space, but stops 25mm short of top, to allow ventillation as normal Thanks everyone for your assistance - jobz a gud un!
  20. Hi all, my gut is that this is simply not acceptable, but I need your thoughts before I speak to the builder, please. So many of the delivered flags are chipped - is this an acceptable consequence of transportation? Thanks, James
  21. This is what I'm doing, but with a 300x300 frame above, made from 50x50 batten on top - so as to comply with ventillation. Will need approval of stove installation guy who is on holidays till Wednesday. Will post with pics, if we clear the compliance hurddle
  22. Nailed, unfortunately, but still a possibility
  23. @saveasteading sorry, just noticed this. Fire board.
  24. Also, this is where the 140mm boards meets at the apex, with a v shape gap - should this be filled before taping? Seems like a condensation hotspot to me!
