Windows....which company did you choose and why?
GaryM replied to Tom's Barn's topic in Windows & Glazing
Hi all, I've just had my Idealcombi windows and doors installed, really pleased so far. They need to come back and fit some custom made trims -
I should point out I have no tank, just a combination boiler that feeds hot water, Ch and ufh
-
It's on an invented system. We had a low flow rate around 9ltper min, with low pressure around 1.2 bar. It's increased flow rate a little, but pressure is great, we have it set to 2.5 bar, it could go higher. We have a combination boiler and can see a really noticeable difference, shower is great even from a rain head with our slow flow rate. Put it this way, if we stay away we like to come home to have a good shower.

This is the one I have https://www.anglianpumping.com/product/water-boosting-pumps/dab-e-sybox-mini-3?gclid=CjwKCAiAp4KCBhB6EiwAxRxbpEiNQuQyj0xitNjea39QKhIoTggdMeP60NSOSNUO_YDeahqLvaSF2RoCCxsQAvD_BwE

I have dab pressure main booster on mine. It's easy to Install, I've had for 3 years and really pleased with it. It uses a small pressure vessel to keep system pressurised and pump kicks almost simultaneously as you turn a tap

I'm putting up galvanised roofart gutters, just be careful how you pronounce it.

Timber supply issues due to brexit
GaryM replied to Pocster's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
@Adrian Walker thanks for the link, I had already found them and intending to use them. Have you had timber from them before? I need structural oak PAR, for use as solid treads in a staircase -

Typical I need to purchase around £1000 oak in coming weeks ? -
ok, I presume you haven't got an existing Kitchen your removing to butcher? Just a thought, why don't you phone local kitchen fitters to find out if they have any old kitchens they are removing you can have?

Aldi single induction hob £35, brilliant, I prefer to our Siemens £1000 hob. I think Lidl does them too

I'm going to the cladding a different way to what I was originally intended, so now we can use vertical battens, so all good. Thanks for replying
-
Yes, that's right, he knows his stuff. Roof and solar looks stunning, I will post some pics when scaffold comes down.

It's a concrete block cavity wall, I think in principle we may get away with not putting a membrane on, but our building inspector has requested one. It will be viewable through the open joint cladding, so I think I will go for the powerlon 160 Uv membrane, it has a very long lift time.
-
Good Question. to keep building control happy I guess it to stop water ingress, the cladding is open joint so air can circulate, but it is in an exposed area where we can get near horizontal rain, so in the long term it will help to protect the blocks are just 3.6 lightweight blocks
-
I'm putting timber cladding on the outside of a concrete block wall. The Building inspector has told me I need to put an breathable membrane on the blocks. So simple question how best to attached it? This may sound daft but I don't want to batten it to hold it on as I'm going to prefabricate cladding panels and the battens will be part of the panels, I will then fix the whole panel with concrete screws to the block wall. So I really only need to hold the membrane in place until I put the panels on which will hold it all in place. Thanks Gary

@gc100 It can be done but not ideal, I suggest you give Paul Gribben a call at gribbenroofing 07881095628, he has been very helpful to me

Sending then to Bipvco is an option, or get the roofing supplier to do it, we changed steel suppler so found someone else to do it. The surface should be tested first, then in a warmish room the an activator is needed and then the PV panels can be stuck to the metal. Because I wanted to ensure it is done correctly we got Gribbens to do it for us. I got my quote from Badclad, who said there were the sole supplier, but I have a feeling if you approached metal solutions they would be able to quote. Or give Paul Gribbens a call at Gribbens

@Pete They look great.
-
@Kevin Jlooks good. My Bipvco panels are being installed as I type. It turned out my roof was a bit too complex for the snap fit system. So I've Zenith Zinc fitting a coated aluminium standing seem roof and I have Paul from Gribben Solar Roofing doing the solar. At the moment they attaching the solar panels to the roof panels in my hallway. I'm excited, I think it will look great (well I hope so)
-
I having 4Khw system the cost for the panels we £6300, but on top of that you need the cost of the inverter and getting it installed. so all in all the best part of £10k, it better look good

My roof starts on Monday (tomorrow) It's been delayed, I had to change my supplier. We are going for greencoat aluminium , it;s around 220m2 at a cost of £96 m2. Original it was going to be done with a snapfit type system, but was told the roof was too complex for it so now flat rolled sheets are being using with roofer doing all the shaping. Getting so solar PV panels that fit between the panels, although it will probable take 100year to pay it off Flextron solor panels

My pennyworth, I purchased from Wundatrade, I sent through the floor plan and they specified all the parts, I tweaked it a bit, but all in all really pleased with it. The original UFH was done 3 years ago with Wunda, this year I extended it with again using Wunda.

@PeterW we have no overflow in our bath, it's free standing in a wet room, so unfortunately we can't go for the first solution. I've seen the second item and it could be a possibility. thanks

Thanks for the input, what do you means by waste filler? this is what I want, https://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/149422.htm, I just don't really what to pay that much.
