Is this strong enough? 18mm ply Min 300mm either side of notch 60mm beneath nothch 16 screws all over the place!
-
He said he wouldn't even necessarily do a site visit either! What exactly is the point of them??? If he does it woukd be when it's totally completed, ....everything important will be hidden by then! He'll just see me exquisite taste in decor......is there a code for that 😉
-
That's great Guys....thankyou again! So grateful Don't think I've anything to worry about. I think he's just being particularly officious with me

Build regs guy says I might need to skim.....I used Knauf 12.5 tapered plasterboard on the walls and 12.5mm pink fire rated pb on the ceiling. The floor area is more than 4m² so he says it has to meet C-s3, d2 fire rating. Knauf state the wall board is A2, whats the difference ??? Cant afford to skim!

Now ive got the sisyeting underwsy, A bit off piste. But do I have to have the bathroom skimmed yo get it through build control?
-
I have and they all seem pretty solid but then I'm not a big burley bloke!
-
Should that be 8 screws through one side and 8 the other way. Or all 16 on one side
-
Is this correct? It's 2 peices of 18mm ply. (Only glue incase it's wrong.) 500mm wide x 200mm deep The joist is 50mm x 140mm x 1900

sistering... My task for this week
-
I screwed brackets under the joists to support the waste....is that sufficient?
-
The reason I'm so anxious is we've never had the house signed off....after 18 yrs! I want/need to do this for my darling late Husband Michael....he will not 'rest' until I have that final sign off. I now have a firm plan.... Had a run in with my plumber about the 'fall'. He insisted there was 4" over 4mtrs of run..I tested it with jug of water down the basin waste snd barely a trickle in the manhole. Anyhoo onwards to sistering Thankyou all. So grateful
-
Thankyou boys for your invaluable advice and encouragement! I will sister the joists as I had planned to do anyway SimonD@ no bath, will be a rarely used ensuite.

I think I'm confusing everyone as usual. My scenario is there are floor joists, then a void beneath then ceiling joists of the kitchen below. Therefore my pipes run in the void but there is not enough 'space in the void to get fall so I had to notch on the underside of those joists to achthe fall needed. I now realise I should not have notched!
-
So, in what scenario would you notch the top of a joist? Surely you wouldn't run waste pipes over joists?
-
Along the whole length or just around the notch?
-
To get enough fall into the waste pipes that 'someone else' laid I've notched out the underside of 5 joists! Sorry! The joists are 6 x 2 x 8ft and about 60yrs old. The deepest notch is 30mm shallowing on each subsequent joists. The notches are about 18" from the wall. Have I done a major boob?? How do I strengthen them? Panicking!

Brilliant! Shopping list starting from the red side.... 32mm pipe 1 x Y I x 90⁰ elbow Blue side 1 x 90⁰ elbow 1 x Y (but upside down)

So I think I will have to bring the waste through the wall rather than under the floor and connect to the waste in the image, that way I can get some fall. Can I connect into the vertical but low down? I will understand and get on with it soon....promise!
-
Phew! So can I connect basin B into basin A waste? Badin A waste is in picture If so How and where?
-
Ps. There's barely any fall on the 33mm waste seen in the image but I can't gain any more
-
Have I been over thinking this?? I was focusing on connecting the basin on the others idea of the wall into the shower waste....can I instead connect into the basin waste as per the image? If I can, where would I connect to?
