Oooh as you have the screwdrivers out.. any chance of taking the cover off one of the UH1 UFH units and posting a couple of pics of the inside ..?
-
Your UFH is designed with a 50c flow (too hot IMO) and 45c return. If it’s only getting water at 35c then the delta exchange will be lower.
-
Whereabouts is that on the tank for reference please ..?
-
@Nickfromwales I think it’s piped wrong.... The schematic you posted shows multiple heat sources to a single heat bank. The top source on the picture is of a gas boiler, not an electric boiler on this storage tariff. It would explain why the boiler shuts down so quick too. If it is putting the full 24Kw into the top 25% of the tank, then as soon as it gets down to the top stat it’s cutting out - 75% of the tank is still cold or cool. The electric boiler needs to be piped as per the pellet boiler as then it will heat the whole tank and hence act as a buffer for the time that the E2000 is not available. I can’t see where the solar circuit is attached but I bet it’s near the top too - there is no way you can thermosyphon that much heat into a tank that size as it will stratify.
-
Hmmm ... faulty boiler thermocouple would do that... would explain why the TS never gets to temperature.
-
@MikeSharp01 my comparison is the Bosch to the Fein MultiTalent - same price, massively different quality ...
-
Waste pipes are fine as they contain very little plasticiser. It’s the cover on cable that has the issue - the plasticiser is leached from the cable covering making the cover brittle.

How many zones are there in the house out of interest ..? Is it one per room..??
-
Ok it looks like the Network version which would explain the bit of dymo tape on the controller ......
-
Nope it just needs commissioning properly ..!! That Heatmiser system is good when it works - has it got a connection to the internet somewhere ..??
-
Ok - that’s something that needs looking at. The manifolds themselves for the underfloor heating - when they get warm do all the pipes get warm too..?
-
Right I can tell you why when the UFH is on, the tank empties in 20 mins. Those red valves supply the manifolds for the UFH - they should blend the floor supply water to 38-42c in a standard setting (not a super insulated house is it ..?) and not supply it to the floor at 65c..! I’ll let @Nickfromwales continue on his TS / boiler quest then I may have a quick look at the UFH as I think we can do something there too.
-
Maybe that pump is pushing against a closed valve .... @newhome did you say all the red topped Reliance valves are set to 65c..??

Insuring a telehandler for a day or two

Both me and my lad are ORT certified and I’m still amazed when I look at the course handbooks as to the stuff you are taught - it’s not just about being able to use it, it’s about being able to use it safely. I started on Manitou 6m units before “proper training” and the biggest I’ve used is 10m. My lad has used 14m units which are massive when you look at them full stretch. At 8m, you are limited to 8 degree slope or your load is off centre and becomes unstable - all things you can’t pick up on your own. For general site work a 3CX with forks will do 95% of what you need. If it needs lifting above 5m then it is into specialist territory or someone with the proper training. -
Multimaster is 350w, MultiTalent is 250w. My wood butcher has the Ryobi cordless one and whilst it’s light in your hand it vibrates too much - the Fein has a decent amount of weight that means it doesn’t vibrate as much and more goes through the blade.
-
Right ... the Fein Multimaster Top is the dogs when it comes to corded and it has a price to match. Fein also make the MultiTalent too which is just as good but less rugged (and a bit lighter) and is change from £110 delivered. https://www.uktoolcentre.co.uk/products/fein-fmt250sl-starlock-multitalent-starter-kits.html?SID=778818&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8dGA38G62QIVbrftCh2i8wm2EAQYBSABEgLXKvD_BwE It makes the Bosch look like a Lidl hairdryer ...
-
That sounds like there are no zones open and someone has overridden the interlock between pump and timer .... timer says UFH but pump should only fire when the circuits call for heat. @Nickfromwales if this has a Heatmiser system have you got the wiring instructions for the control box ..?
-
I do hope that’s a typo...!!! Stage release by Melton BS is £80 a time and the surveyor is fantastic ..!

JCB Hire - as everyone else has said ..! Just check it’s not cheaper to get a man with a Telehandler for a day as they aren’t cheap to hire and are a work of art to learn to drive ... -
Vacuum cleaner recommendations?
PeterW replied to Jeremy Harris's topic in Kitchen & Household Appliances
@Stones I had this issue too - replace the main filter but also try these bags instead of the paper ones - the Hepa filter bag is much better. https://m.johnlewis.com/numatic-henry-hepa-vacuum-cleaner-bags-pack-of-10/ You may also need to clean the motor filter - a slightly fiddly job as it’s wrapped in the motor itself and you need to take the top apart to do it - turn the motor unit upside down and you will find 6 screws. Remove them all and pull the black base away from the casing and the motor will come out, wrapped in a foam filter. Mine was full of crud and after a quick clean the auction was vastly improved as was the dust output.- 81 replies

I have a Fein Multimaster 240v I will fight to the death over it ..!!! Only issue is eye watering Fein blade prices but I use ones from eBay and they are just as good. Cut, sand, grind, it does the lot ..!

Tank can be anywhere on the plot - back garden ..?? As long as the supply pipe is buried correctly and the wagon driver can see both tank and vehicle then it’s fine. -

63mm up to 5kw stove output from the regs IIRC Which happens to be ordinary down pipe size -

If you’re in Humberside or that neck of the woods @epsilonGreedy then give LPG Direct a call. They do underground LPG tanks and will beat the usual suspects hands down on price and service usually.
