The 600mm copper stem and back plate arrived today . 600mm is plenty - my only minor concern is I’ll have a non accessible Hep2o to copper fitting in my wall . Should I worry ??? ?

K-Rend Bead Thickness and Fixing Instructions

Exactly what I did - just use off cuts to cover timbers face . -
Transmission received and understood!

The hot water comes from a uvc .

Really ? Even though the hot pipes enter no cold space ( loft etc ) ????
-
Probably a stupid question. But should I lag the hot pipes?. No pipes in the entire build go through a cold space i.e. they are all within the insulated build. The hot pipes (due to so many of them) do cross over cold pipes - so not sure if that's an issue. Thanks in advance as usual!

MVHR newbie.. help needed
Pocster replied to Savage87's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Hey ! Yet to turn mine on ! . Tbh even if I did I have no windows or doors - so unlikely to be effective ?. It’s all coming though ; just slowly ............. -
Our build is more complex but we had the exact same issue that the ufh clips could not penetrate the below ground water proofing . Just used the ‘egg cup’ plastic ( forgive lack of terminology) . So ufh clipped inbetween those . Upper layer ( which is B and B ) did a membrane first , then pir - then sheet to protect pir from screed . So happily pierced that sheet with ufh clips .

Crumbs ! Makes discussions with the EU look easy . What an earth is going to happen when we get to plumbing , electrics etc. Etc.

I’m sure you are right - it’s just Sod’s law and all that . But using the floor to effectively mark the ceiling is a neat tip !

MVHR location help

+1 for bpc -
I get the plan and it is good but I worry when I cut the lighting hole after plaster/paint I’m bound to Nick a cable . What is the issue of plastering upto a hole ? Is it the plasterer likes/needs an edge ? Or perhaps it’s just the actual skim around a circular opening ??
-
Hey ! Let me know how you get on with them . It wasn’t care for my plaster so much but if I’ve got 30 recessed lights in a room I don’t want him moaning or the quality of skimming round each light is poor . Reluctant to skim/paint then drill my light holes - prefer to get it wrong earlier in the mission !
-
Anyone installed anything like this ? https://www.nationallighting.co.uk/indoor-lighting/downlights/trimless-downlights/horizon-dimmable-gu10-trimless-round-downlight?vat=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-92bubfL5QIVA7DtCh3argo4EAQYByABEgIE0_D_BwE I like the idea as the hole in created first not after ceiling skimmed and painted . Are plasters happy with this or do they curse at skimming around a hole ??

Hep2o saves the day ! ???
-
Yes . I have 3 in a jar ( 1 spare for those unforeseen circumstances) ?

What does deja Vu mean ?

You can borrow mine anytime ?

So ! I replaced mdpe with Hep2o. So as Hep2o is a lot more forgiving on bends I now have just 2 tee’s where it crosses the ceiling . These joints will always be exposed so can always get to them . Hep2o much easier to work with; only issues I experienced. Once the pipe inserts are in they are in unlike mdpe ones you can remove . Not an issue though . Hep2o 22mm more difficult to dismount - but then the key isn’t like the 15mm or perhaps it’s just me . Hep2o fittings that go Hep2o to plastic thread ( say for a tap ) leak no matter how much plumbers tape and washers I use ( hence why tap is upside down to reduce leak ! ) . Will change this to a brass wall plate I think . Tested manifolds off the main tap - leak free now .
-
Yeah ; a small price to pay ..... ?
-
What I did as I knew the build would take a long time I.e years . Is buy somewhere . Then no rent . Also ‘n’ years later property has appreciated ( buy what will appreciate not what you want ! ) and you’ll get your deposit back + uplift !! . All to spend on your build !! ???

Valid vat invoice?
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Self Build VAT, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), S106 & Tax
Oh I’ve done the same . Spreadsheet and every receipt in a folder - all numbered . Just didn’t want the tax man questioning when of course I’ll have no memory of why it doesn’t show vat . -

Valid vat invoice?
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Self Build VAT, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), S106 & Tax
And that was allowed ok ? -
Hey ! i have a vat invoice that doesn’t show vat . Just total cost of goods . Company is vat registered . i queried this and they said if it’s below £250 they don’t have to legally show the vat . When I claim at the end of the build there are 2 forms ; one for receipts showing vat ; the other not . This correct ? . I’ll still get the vat back on this ? - I’m assuming it’s a receipt ( like from a store ) which doesn’t show vat . cheers
