FLUFFER !!!
-
@Onoff is out of touch with the world!!
-
When I was going to order their units ( turned out too expensive in the end ) I went in store and asked for "the cheapest, crapiest kitchen you have ". They seemed quite pleased with that as it made me an easy customer. No illusions of quality or anything.
-
Yes - we call them "skilled tradesmen"

Spent 100 quid on 6 metres of Howdens quality worktop also .

Punted on a cheap ebay kitchen . Expecting it to be absolute shite . It was certainly no worse than any other flat pack . All this ( including handles and hinges ) for £320 inc vat and delivery . Pretty good I thought
-
Nah . Not my rental . That’s my house !!
-
Never ceases to amaze me how many ‘trades’ are complete shite . I’ve confidence in the new guy though .

Just forwarded that photo to the original bodger. No words. Just the photo. Desperate to see his reply...

One of my rentals developed a leak about 12 months ago. I got a "guy" in to fix. He claimed the parapets needed doing. So he did it and I paid the 2k ( just 2 parapets at the front ). A few months ago it leaked again. He then wants 2k for the back parapets . Now I know he's taking the p*ss. Got some real roofers in ( recommended from a reliable source ). Though they haven't taken the front parapets off yet just look at the ridge..... Also you can see he's circled the bodge. Yet the previous guy never mentioned it - didn't see it I suppose! ( t o s s e r ) So tomorrow "real roofers" will remove the front parapets and we can see what work he did ( or didn't do ) then I'm going to go round his house and loose my rag.

Another quote today ... nearly 3k for 24 months cover ? Most insurers won’t cover me because I’ve been too long getting the build done . What are they trying to tell me ! . Perhaps that 500 a year is the best I’m going to get ...... Wonder what @Onoff says when he renews his buildings insurance? . They always ask “ any major work “ or “ property in a good state of repair “ - fecking joke questions !!

Don’t need to be a clairvoyant- all (expletive deleted)ing true !
-
Did you watch them ? ???
-
As @PeterW says you must tank . Wet room or just shower cubicle . If not you’ll pay the price later ... ?
-

You’ve become to nice The ‘lucky’ ‘ it’s alright for you ‘ attitude of people extends to everything As a LL I get told “ ok for you with all your houses “ , I reply honestly and say (expletive deleted) off and borrow a million pounds then like I did . Tends to end the conversation. Recently had on my ‘new’ car ( leased ! ) . “ Lucky you can afford one they are expensive “ . I explain it’s a lease I.e a long term rental . Tends to end the conversation also . People judge on what they see not what they know ...
-
That p*saves me off . “ Lucky “ to get planning - took 5 years fighting for it . You make your own luck ; and that requires effort .
-
I just say “18 months from finished “ . Just repeat that every 18 months . Unless you’ve ‘done it’ a non diy builder just won’t get the amount of time and learning required ( oh and cash )

Slimline water harvesting unit inside wall cavity?
Pocster replied to ashthekid's topic in Rainwater, Guttering & SuDS
I initially was going to have rainwater harvesting . It’s green and efficient. But the cost against the benefit ( return on investment could be decades ) just made it a non starter . That cash instead could yield better on pv / ASHP / battery etc. -
3 years like that ? . We have a specialist on here for the ‘slow burn ‘ @Onoff will be along shortly
