  1. Cut backs due to brexit , Covid , climate change . Sign of the times
  2. https://www.eurofitdirect.co.uk/products/recessed-folding-coat-hook-height-80mm
  3. Rather than 36 quid each. I found some quite nice ones for 7 quid each ?
  4. Think I'll go for the veneer . Cheaper; also at the width I want they would have to biscuit join 3 pieces.
  5. ? If you stopped all your pornhub subscriptions you’d be much wealthier
  6. Yes they can do . Is “ real “ walnut worth the extra cost ?? . Will it look different/ feel different??
  7. Yeah , I did think of things like that .
  8. Got a rough price for the timber and machining ( 160cm x 50cm ) at around £220 + vat . Notice on the quote they’ve put walnut mdf veneer ? Quickly looked at their website “ real “ walnut will be maybe 400 before machining !!! Ouch ! . Will anyone be able to tell the difference? . Also weight wise ; is real walnut going to be considerably heavier ??
  9. I’m actually quite excited by this . Although the designer version had ‘ click for pricing ‘ - we know it would of been ridiculously expensive. So to have made something very similar for ( I guess ) a few hundred quid is awesome ! . The practicality of recessed flipable hooks is largely pointless as coats will always be hanging on them ?
  10. The company is being really good ! ( must know I’m an inept joiner ) . I can send them 1 hook and the recessed hangers - so they can machine them perfectly! ? My new motto “ out source skilled work “ ??
  11. Oh I see ? I’ll get the company to do that also ! . Presume just 2 recessed hooks near the top is sufficient?
  12. Well ! As you know ! . I tried every stud detector that exists - they are all crap . The positioning of this rack has to be between the door fully open and a socket - so you can bet a zillion quid there’s no stud in between them . Just aswell I osb ‘d everything precisely for these type of issues ( though I was mocked for doing it )
  13. So this type of thing ? https://www.direct-fittingsuk.com/keyhole-hangers-round-metal-recessed-mount-insert-bed-connector-picture-mirror-frame-bracket-30mm-x-6739-p.asp So presumably I cut the plaster back to the osb and mount them recessed ?
  14. Robbins have the timber but won’t cut the holes . https://www.woodshopdirect.co.uk/planed-all-round/american-black-walnut-timber/ have the timber and will cut the holes !!! ? My next question is how to wall mount this . Wall is plasterboard on osb - can’t guarantee where the studs are . I want a no visible fixing ; but don’t want it wobbling / moving . What’s best to use ??
  15. Didn’t know that was possible or if supplier can do that .
  16. ? ; already emailed them
  17. Haven’t got a router . Don’t really want the job or to f it up - hence hoping wood supplier will do the work
  18. Yep perfect . Now I need to persuade a wood machinery company to cut the recesses for those ( no point me attempting it )
  19. Yeah but that’s IKEA rubbish ( which I’ve installed ) . A nice slab of walnut ( i.e real wood ) with metal recessed hooks ( about 35 each ) - is what I want . Admittedly your coat won’t be on the hook long . Tactile stuff must be quality .
  20. The company appear to be closing down. So..... I'm guessing it shouldn't be TOO hard to make my own. I see you can buy the recessed hooks. What wood do we reckon that is???
  21. Wear pants . The burn otherwise is just too much
  22. Thanks will order some Zinsser Gardz
  23. Tenant wiped this as due to mould ( assume caused by condensation as no leak found ) ; taking paint off the wall .External wall below windows. I knocked off any loose paint and then weak pva painted over it . Trying to paint it now and the old paint just peels or bubbles . What should I use to presumably seal the wall and allow me to paint it ? ta
