Bench or corner seat material in wet room?
Pocster replied to ashthekid's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Bench . Then 2 or more can share the space 😉 -
Things like this are always a nightmare; especially on your own . I’d buy an electric hoist . Pull / slide it up some Scaff boards . Probably still need some extra hands for this . I wouldn’t recommend doing it ‘ manually ‘ at height …. I’ve moved steels / glazing ( no laughing ) / metal stairs etc . On my own - but not ‘up’ 😁

Started to do the front ones as they are lighter ; maybe only 40kg each . Firstly the Sbr / cement mix holds them well . They ain’t ever coming off the wall unless it’s with a breaker ! Annoyingly ( like with my tiles ) the error margin from the moulds seems quite high . You can line 2 up ; exactly parallel - yet the apex of one is a good 7mm ‘out ‘ compared to the other . Nothing I can do about that I guess . Whilst doing it a neighbor that talks too me ( which is rare ) said “ It’s taking you so long because you are a perfectionist “ . I assume he wasn’t being sarcastic …..

How close when face to face buildings?
Pocster replied to Post and beam's topic in Building Regulations
I always deliberately find examples where the council have broke their own rules . “ must confirm to SUDS “ , “ must be near to 21m distance “ , “ must provide bike storage “ etc. etc. ( it’s a long list ) . At planning I then show them these violations which they approved . I call this game “ knob the donkey “ -

Yep . Seen detached and yet I’d struggle to walk down it . Best one was my brother many years ago bought a new build with a garage . He had an average size car . It would fit in the garage but you couldn’t open the doors to get out!. Absolute joke these ‘ developers’ . Yet try and do a single self build and all those ‘ignored’ rules are suddenly applied and enforced . -

All depends on your council planning . Mine want “ as near “ to 21m distance. Whilst clearly this flexible rule is violated massively on those lovely flats they cram into city centres . -
@SteamyTea not trying to remove cement from quoins / copings . Just deeply embedded dirt / pollution.
-
As you say . Don’t want to damage the stone . Also environmental trying to avoid acid and bleach .
-
Will try the LithofinPower-Clean as recommended by @PeterW Reluctant to use acid unless I really have to and equally the same with bleach .
-
Yes . They do go black . Real black some of them ; so technically it’s “dirt” from pollution ????
-
Acid on random stone is good . But what should I use for the quoins / copings ??
-
Tried now both products on the quoins - no real joy . On eBay I see ‘ memorial head stone cleaner ‘ 🙄🙄🙄😁

Are you fit now ? -
This stuff was good on the random stone . 1 : 4 mix with water at first . Always scared the acid will burn the entire wall away ! . Went over more stubborn bits later with it neat . Does the job 👍 Says not to use on sandstone. So tried my favourite ‘ wet & forget ‘ on them - jury is still out . According to the reviews you need to leave it and be patient…

Which ever face is cemented between my legs
-
You can just about see it in the photo . Too be honest if the power failed / cut off though the 20kg drill wouldn’t fall on your head it would swing straight into your face …
-
Hang on a minute . Is THIS the first ( only ) job you’ve actually finished ??
-
Yeah it does have a 'cap' you fill with something oil based and is then fed to the tip. Amazon messed around with the oil delivery i.e. it never happened. Presume it's noting special. I just stop every 30 seconds and shoot some wd40 in the hole.
