  1. Goodies for me !
  2. Aka “ doing a schofield “
  3. No . I’d like that .
  4. If you do it nothing will happen . If you don’t then Sod’s Law will work . Prevention is best 👍. For a small fee I can stand there naked to deter people . It’s not the first time .
  5. I did think you can get padlock type covers for tap outlets . Failing that stick a locked box over it ( serious suggestion btw )
  6. Cctv , gun , taser , naked man . These are slightly unhelpful suggestions I know .
  7. That’s what you need to sort for your marriage / ceiling sake 😎 ( I’m not helpful , I know that )
  8. Your fault 🤣
  9. Indeed . Delusional aspirations of building a house also .
  10. I started this thread ! So NO grumpy old men ! . Young virile girlies yes ….
  11. True . My SE confirmed in general he over spec’d by 350% .. wtf ! For my foundation insulation ( concrete raft ) I had a spec . I called around and just couldn’t get any product at that level . Finally a guy said to me “ are you building a 10 storey ncp car park ? “ . I said no . He then told me to tell my SE to (expletive deleted) off and half the requirement . This I did . SE lowered the spec ‘ over the phone ‘ to half what was required ; which I could find at a sensible price .
  12. I saw it ! You said ture - that’s coz you are pissed 🍺
  13. He's a true self builder. Post and ask, post and ask, think about it, post and ask...before you know it a year or 2 has gone and it's still not done......
  14. It would seem so. Also with the elusive "sound test" . Told which 5 houses are being checked ( so make them comply ) then 'shall we say' be less inclined with the others..... It is a mockery. Thats the thing with self build. Who is going to f up their own foundations. Have minimal PV and not connect them etc. etc. etc. etc. - I suspect the number of self builds that cut these type of corners is very little.
  15. Hmmm . As an ex software engineer I used to think this . People will ‘learn’ more about technology as it’s used more in their life . In my experience it’s the complete opposite. If they can’t turn it off/on to ‘fix’ the issue or click an icon it’s beyond them . Number of people who can’t set the basics for their router . Can’t work out if their PV is generating or how much . Change a battery in a device ( ffs ! ) . Humans are getting more stupid .
  16. Quantum mechanics is being touted as an explanation to consciousness. So you’d better be careful - she knew what you were thinking btw “ life energy “ = 🍷
  17. My sparky recently became mcs accredited for solar etc. He’s no cowboy ; used him countless times . Told me he’s been to a site ( new builds ) where sometimes just 2 pv panels are put on a roof just so a sap tick box gets done . What’s more worrying is sometimes on finished builds the panels aren’t even wired up . It’s an absolute joke / shambles . But of course it looks great as “ PV was installed “ 😞
  18. My SE told me he’d been to sites where eventually he has to walk off . The example he sited was a known developer; the workmen were chucking coke cans etc in a particular corner of the slab mesh before the concrete pour . SE told them to remove it ( apparently it was a lot ) . Lazy or what . Concrete got poured over it . Likely that corner will crack/fail probably not , but if it did …… . He told me this because of how good and meticulous ( yes ; correct word ) I had been on my foundations . Gold badge ⭐️ for me 😎
  19. I wonder if it’s one of these cheap traps . When I installed my shower tray no matter how hard I tried the supplied trap leaked . Ordered a new ‘better’ one and could tell instantly as I installed it what a better fit it was . Not leaked since . All traps are certainly not born equal .
  20. Forgot to say ; I might be arriving late tomorrow.
  21. Don’t use your finger 😉
  22. Nor me ! More sub frame decking . Better get back to it now 😊🤣
  23. @Thorfun - you’re doing what I’m doing . Posting on here to avoid doing the work - but it is a bank holiday after all 😎👍
  24. Ah I see . Skinny tile strip at end might look ‘off’ . 1200x750 sounds good to me ( the loss of 50mm on width is negligible ) .
  25. Personally I’d want the tray as large as possible . Whilst your theory of water on tiles with dry ( especially with ufh ) ; kids with water … well it goes everywhere and becomes slippery .
