    Bricklayers

How should I expect a bricklayer to price my job for the main hose build:- Fixed price Daily rate Per block Anyone hazard a stab at what the going rate should be in NI?
  2. I haven't just asking for suitable/advisable options. Any comment @Declan52 regarding a cavity closer
  3. Block build house 100mm outside, 150mm cavity and 215mm inside skin (for wind loading) Using 2 concrete heads above the window, what is the best method of closing the cavity above the window. Builder has suggested that I will need 3 heads:- one external skin, one on internal and a boot head and some insulation to close the cavity. There has to be a way to close it using 2 heads and something, what should that something be? Thanks in advance.
  4. Nothing concrete that I would be prepared to quote them on.
  5. @Nickfromwales Promise I will start a new topic when or if I get more details. In the mean time @Barney12 and @JamieM here is a link to the VortexAir Hybrid with some basic information.
  6. Grant engineering now do a hybrid asap and oil boiler probably more suitable for the NI market where much of rural NI have no mains gas. They had it on display at the show, I'm waiting on more detailed information coming through from their technical department.
  7. The other surprise you will get @JohnWwill be the number of builders that show interest, take it away to price, and never bother getting back with one or any reason why not.
  8. For information to NI folks I am told that Ulster Bank are due to withdraw from the NI selfbuild market with pending applications to be with them in the next 3 weeks. This is apparently down to them aligning closer to Natwest
  9. Just seen this on cemfloor facebook page. Begin Great days work for Cemfloor. Installations in Newry and Saintfield. One was with out under floor heating in which the client can tile as early as 5 days using the right adhesive. The good news is that we have an 25 year guarantee with a tile adhesive company for Cemfloor! ? End
  10. Welcome @NIreland I am from Co down hoping to start very soon with my build (I have been saying that for ages). Where abouts in the country are you?
  11. I believe the cemfloor is normally installed at about 50mm depth. Check out their facebook page for loads of installation photos
  12. Can't decide between western and manor. Both were still better than other slates on display at the show. Not sure what they are like price wise yet.
  13. Yes they definitely talk a good story. It looks great polished also though swmbo isn't convinced. On another note you got your slate from slate supplies, which one did you put on? I was impressed with the quality of their slate at the show.
  14. I have some recent pricing for a 2250 x 2250 sectional door:- Garage Door Systems Duratherm Sectional Door M.Ribbed Style finish Standard colour Would start around: £918 - £978 + vat Motor to suit would be an additional £339 + vat Tilt-A-Dor Black insulated sectional door £970 + VAT Motor to automate the door £300 + VAT This price includes fitting and installation Hopefully of some help.
  15. Not entirely sure of the above circumstances, though for a new installation/new build property you do have to apply to DAERA for consent to discharge of not connecting to mains. I am in the process of doing this but have tasked an agent to carry this out on my behalf.
  16. To be honest I dont know other than it dries from the top down rather than bottom up apparently. It is a french product they have brought in and are sole suppliers in N Ireland at the moment. They can also pour 100 m3 in one go without expansion seemingly. In terms of tiling they report no issues and also report that you can tile on it after 5 days. I am going to follow this up with a more indepth chat and visit to a few installs they have done.
  17. Be interesting to hear how you get on with this, have heard of long drying time though that was without UFH to assist. The cemfloor stuff I referred to, which was also at the show @JohnW, is a different composition being cement based and very quick drying times.
  18. Off topic but @jamiehamy care to provide some details?
  19. Any of the NI contingent used the new liquid screed offering by CES Quarry
  20. @JohnW I think I have a copy of @Alphonsox costings spreadsheet in work will dig it out for you tomorrow.
  21. Welcome @JohnW I am one of the NI contingent on here. I'm in dromara and hoping to get started within the next 6 weeks or so. Good luck with your build.
  22. @JSHarris Would one of these be a suitable PIR
  23. Thanks @JSHarris great detail as always. Great to have you back.
  24. @JSHarris any details on the make up of the above. I am about to start construction on site with no elec but would like some lighting around the container etc
