  1. And is lvt ok with ufh?
  2. I’m not convinced I can diy that. We’re pretty good at wood/laminate so was thinking about what we know we can install.
  3. Another question while I think about it. Which solution would you choose?!
  4. I guess another question is would the 1.8mm underlay be suitable for under laminate on the screed. With regards to it being enough to even out any small imperfections in the screed.
  5. Looking at floor coverings for our basement but we don’t have a lot of thickness to play with (max 15mm). For laminate our choices then would be 8mm laminate with 5mm wood fibre underlay or 12mm laminate and 1.8mm foam underlay. this is being laid on a Cemfloor screed so it’s pretty level with wet ufh below. anyone used 8mm laminate? How does it perform? Anyone got both 8mm and 12mm and notice a difference?
  6. Yes. Cold filtered water is lovely. Sparkling is just like a soda stream but more convenient! filters aren’t cheap though
  7. i used to put the arm of mine in to the dumper loader bit so that to get the digger out was a lot harder! but we were living on site so didn't have the worry of no one there
  8. I use the magnet trick to great success. Doesn’t take too long to find one and then I know the centre spacing from there.
  9. Do you have an architect helping you? Ours dealt with all the CIL stuff for us.
  10. I agree and is what we did. Just giving options. 😉
  11. And you can use (afaik) 12.5mm at 600mm centres for ceilings but you need noggins for the board ends. although happy to be corrected if this isn’t the case but it is my understanding
  12. I believe it’s the weight bearing capacity of the MF ceiling. A standard 1200mm grid as per BG design will take a single sheet of PB but if you want thicker or soundbloc or double boarded then you need to make the grid smaller to take the extra weight. the BG docs do state this.
  13. We have exactly this setup and seems ok to us!
  14. As a minimum!! If we only had to comply we’d all have leaky poorly insulated houses. 🤣
  15. Good luck. I hope you find a solution. Our external blinds do a wonderful job of keeping the house cool without us having to rely on the AC too much.
  16. Would one find these on Autotrader?
  17. @mads have you approached the external blind companies to see if they have drawings for what you need?
  18. Doesn’t help you but this was pretty trivial in our timber frame! ☺️
  19. I think standard 12.5mm and a skim gives 30mins protection. Maybe 15mm standard plasterboard gives the same without a skim? sure someone knows for sure though.
  20. +1 to this. Our BCO asked us to do something that would’ve costed us thousands so I read the regulations and put forward my arguments as to why it wasn’t necessary and got told I was right.
  21. Doesn’t mean they’re no good. Just means you need to do more research! Companies house checks. Google searches. Ask them to visit on-going and previous builds etc. we used Flight Timber and visited previous builds and were very happy with our build in the end. Didn’t stop them from going under and people losing money though so no matter who you choose you have to be careful. There are a number of threads on here about the subject.
  22. The “profit” we make from buying off-peak to exporting has reduced with the increase of prices the other day. But it’s still a profit! If prices go up any further I’ll need to make some changes. But it works for now. my battery inverter says it’s Octopus friendly so I might look in to moving to Agile over the summer to charge the batteries when it’s cheapest. But research is required
  23. +1 to this! In fact if I were to ever do it again I would swap our attic trusses for a cut roof. The attic trusses were a pain to membrane around.
  24. this week I have been paid £9.60 to run my house (and it’s only April!). We charge the batteries on the off-peak Cosy tariff times and get paid more for export than for the import costs during generation hours. It works for us and I’m hoping that we can earn enough over the summer to negate the majority of the winter costs leaving us with a very low annual running cost. payback time? Don’t give a s**t. Had the money during the build and is now part of my mortgage so I’m paying interest on it etc. but don’t care. I can absorb that into my monthly costs. All I care about is not spending my pension (when I finally retire that is) on heating bills so I can use it for holidays instead! man maths for the win.
  25. Norrsken Alu-clad. Zero maintenance, great windows and excellent service. you get what you pay for! good luck.
