Graf one2clean for me. installed but not used yet. we have sandstone about 2.5m down so I didn't want to go for one of the conical ones and the one2clean gets good reviews and is slightly shallower dig. external pump unit for blowing bubbles in to the brown stuff as well. there's lots of threads on here about this subject. what I found from my research was that everyone seems to recommend blower units rather than disc based units and everyone seems to have different brands and everyone is happy with them. so, I would suggest that the pretty much all do the same thing. just find one that ticks your costs/requirements/environmental discharge and then see if anyone on here has one installed and ask what they think of it if that's not already been asked!

ha ha.....I bought mine from Screwfix so can easily pop down to replenish if I run out.

yep. Wunda for us. and bought the stapler but I'm sure I can sell it on once we're done with it so total cost won't be too much. you 'can' push the staples in by hand but life's too short to do something like that!

we also had no experience and did our basement UFH ourselves. the wife was stapling behind as I lay the pipe down. it was actually quite enjoyable. I can't really say how long it took as we were doing the odd hour here and there but it all seemed to be ok and there were no leaks when I connected them all up to the manifold. I go in to more detail about ours here

this would be my solution as well although it's easy to spend other people's money. you've also admitted that you're worried about delivery drivers/visitors slipping on the slope in the winter/ice so just get it fixed now for good and then you'll have a happy wife who's not dreading leaving the house when winter comes and you'll not be worried about a health and safety claim against you by an Amazon delivery driver (other on-line shopping websites are available). to me it's a no brainer. but that's just me.

rimless wall hung is what we're after. but the options are countless! even from the same manufacturer it seems they each have a plethora of options within the same range. 🤯

rhetorical question time now..... why is buying a toilet so hard? too many options out there I think is the reason. haven't a clue which manufacturer to go for. I have a list of about 20 different toilets that I will ask the wife to go through and we can cross off what she's not interested in and then try and pick a style, quality, cost option from what's left.

that's fair enough but it's not rocking the boat! they can't take away the existing permission just because they think you're taking the pi$$ by applying for something different. like I said, if it fails you can just fall back to the existing permission. when we bought our bungalow it had permission for a replacement bungalow on the plot. we tried our luck with a two storey large dwelling knowing that if all went pear shaped we still had the existing planning permission that we could either build or sell the plot with that in place. anyway, looks like a lovely location and I'm sure you'll find something that works for you! are you sure on this? surely you could always put a new planning application in for a building YOU actually want to build. as to the existing foundations then I wonder if a good SE could utilise what you've already got? if the new application fails then you can always fall back to the existing one. just a thought as the benefit of self-building is to get a house that you actually want rather than what someone else wanted 15 years ago.

it's funny, I was talking to your dad about your manifold system as I mentioned to him I was starting mine soon. when he said you and he did it together I wasn't expecting such a piece of artwork! well done indeed. sadly, I have a feeling mine will not be as neat as this as I have a small gap to feed all the pipes through so they'll all bunch up as they go through the ceiling of the basement to the ground floor.

nope. but I will look in to it and can ask the architects. I don't recall seeing anything on the BR drawings but will double check again. thanks for the link I'll give it a read tomorrow.

don't know. didn't know I had to. do I have to have fire collars around every penetration/hole between the ground floor and the basement? I have a rather large service cavity that will take all my plumbing and electrics from the comms/plant rooms in the basement to the rest of the house above ground

another qq. after much reading on here I've decided to go with the majority and get the Geberit Duofix UP320 frames/cisterns. there are so many different options and places to buy though. has anyone done the legwork to determine the best place to buy for both cost and customer service? it'd save me a lot of time this evening if anyone could point me to the best site to use.

I think after reading both @Onoff's and @pocster's bathroom threads I learnt that asking questions is not a thing to be afraid of on here! so don't worry, learn what you can from us making c**k ups and then still ask away as I guarantee you'll make c**k ups too! 😉
