  1. and, for future reference, when is an access elbow used if not on a drop? is it only on a horizontal? if so I could probably make that happen with what I've already got! I can go 135° into 135° from the vertical and then into the 90° elbow on the horizontal.
  2. thanks for the feedback. it is very much appreciated. I can easily swap the 90° bend with access point for one without the access point! but I had a drawing from a civil engineer showing a similar access point in a 90° bend so was following that in a way. but I do now see it says long radius bend. I am confused by what the Red Cross is denoting though as that's MVHR ducting you've marked it on! even though I said I didn't want to change it I will if it will give a better solution! I think I understand what you mean about 'open end on horizontal having the cleaning/rodding eye'. do you mean one of these: https://www.drainagepipe.co.uk/ring-seal-soil-branch-135-degree-x-110mm-grey-p-SP210G/ with one of these in the end: https://www.drainagepipe.co.uk/ring-seal-soil-access-plug-110mm-grey-p-SP292G/ will that be a better access/rodding solution?
  3. Insulated slab? 😂
  4. but wouldn't the cost of a course of that lot around the perimeter be similar price to a truck load of EPS?! I had a few Foamglas blocks which I got from @ToughButterCup for a cheap price as he had them leftover. but to buy them new would've been eye-watering for the perimeter of a building.
  5. today I also carried on this soil pipe to the basement where it will join up to the pipe going out of the wall and to our STP. I'm REALLY hoping that no one sees an issue with this work as I REALLY don't want to do it again! below photo is from the room above. it's not fugly but I had to skirt around the MVHR ducting and there was no other way of doing it. it looks good to me. 🙂 and for once I'm happy about it not being level! it falls approximately 25mm over 1500mm so roughly 1:60 fall which, I believe, is well within tolerance. I await the criticism!
  6. all strapped up. hopefully it's now good enough to sign off! 😉
  7. pvc coated strap band already here and ready to rock. will strap it all up a bit later.
  8. SVP take 2. a LOT less fugly @Russell griffiths, @ProDave, @Nickfromwales. does this work better? I'm much happier with it! tbh, I wasn't really happy with the previous attempt and do agree it was fugly. it really didn't look right. thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow.
  9. but you don't actually know for a fact though, right? you're just guessing from other houses extensions? and, as you say, the other extensions were done before the owners bought the houses so how's to say that planning policies haven't changed in those years since? you sound very defeatist without even seemingly testing the water.
  10. I'll get SWMBO to administer them
  11. yeah. correct. was looking like a pain using the grey push fit so I bought that flexible pipe to assist. I guess I could make it fit better using orange bends like you say. I'll have a go in the morning to make it better and if that doesn't work I'll get some orange 15° and 30° bends.
  12. I figured as this was just the vent part of the SVP and wouldn't take any liquid/solid support wouldn't be needed. I guess that was an incorrect assumption!
  13. one of these? https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-flap-disc-115mm-80-grit/346jg
  14. I get this sort of chamfer of 'most' of the pipe but there are bits where it doesn't and it's still pretty much a 90° edge! It's most likely me not keeping the chamfer tool square to the pipe I guess but I've just taken to smoothing down the bit it doesn't work on with my small angle grinder. seems to do the trick with plenty of lube slathered on. (easy @pocster! don't get too excited)
  15. ps. as @Dillsue said, if you're getting an AC coupled battery system then you'll need a new G99 application.
  16. I've gone LuxPower (SquirrelPod) and Chinese batteries (Hanchu Ess https://www.hanchuess.com/low-battery.html). it's a good system that seems to work well but I've since learned it only supports 13A on EPS/UPS load so not quite a whole-house power cut solution but definitely enough to keep the lights and the router on! the LuxPower inverter works by using CT clamps on the solar and grid feeds and it works out if it needs to discharge or can charge. seems to do a great job so far but it's only been running a couple of weeks and we're not even in the house yet! but I do have the EV charger running off the new house so I can set that to get energy from PV and to supplement it from the batteries if PV isn't generating enough. I bought all my stuff direct from Big Green Beard and my electrician wired it up after I hung it on the wall. this is from before it was wired up.
  17. and a bit of kudos where it's due to @Onoff as his tip about the SF mitre box fitting the 110mm soil pipe was spot on! I bought one and my cuts have never been squarer. thank you @Onoff. you're a genius. but I am having poor results with the chamfer tool I bought. https://www.screwfix.com/p/metex-10mm-shank-drill-mounted-pvc-pipe-chamfer-tool-110mm/876pv?_requestid=421611 I must be doing it wrong as I get part of the pipe chamfered nicely but other parts not at all! I'm trying my hardest to keep the drill square to the pipe but nothing I do seems to work. I've gone back to using an angle grinder to smooth down the bits the chamfer tool isn't chamfering.
  18. just as I thought! thanks.
  19. cheers. will post a less fugly picture once I've rectified it tomorrow. it'll be the first job I do in the morning. 🙂
  20. cool. and I can just buy a long length of threaded rod and cut to length?
  21. if they're made by Tesla they must be good.
  22. I'm glad you're here Dave! it is downhill but I didn't think it'd matter as it's just a vent pipe! didn't even think about condensation of leakage. I will fix that tomorrow. THANK YOU!!
  23. I must be losing it as I can't find them on SF! what should I be searching for? 'soil pipe hangers' doesn't find them.
  24. I'm still waiting for @Nickfromwales to get here. he said he was walking and left last week. I'm getting a bit worried he might've got lost and I've now eaten all the cake so he'll be disappointed when he does finally arrive.
  25. @pocster where did you get these soil pipe hangers that I saw in your bathroom thread? I'm going to need some of those. also how long is the thread as mine will need to hang down quite a long way in some places I think?
