The ideal would have been to carry your 6x6 posts up to handrail height where they would have doubled as corner posts. You could look to make it as 3 stud walls in your workshop, then hoik them up. Affix your corner posts with galv brackets. Many ways to skin this cat but you gets what you get when you make it up as you go along! This idea with the gap at the bottom would allow for shorter standards:

That's only 1/2" gap overhang either side. With 5" you'd get an inch either side. You could even think about routing a drip groove on the underside.

The flat deck board will fill up with sh!t, water will lie in/on it and it'll go green. It needs a chamfer for water to run off. If using 3" posts I'd use 5x2, so 1" overhang. Next year I'm going to plant half the amount of beans as in they're spaced twice as far apart as I did them this year. I'm figuring less space for pests to hide, less dense foliage etc. Should give the birds a better chance to get in there. A little Robin is a constant visitor this year.

Currently researching the subject: Seems chicken manure/litter is better than cow manure. Just so happens the landlady has chickens!

Would anyone have a good link to DIY / home biogas production. This for heating and possible generator use. This on the basis of someone having a herd of cows so an infinite manure supply! I'm aware of the Nepalese biogas build details and the one from Mother Earth News. I've seen a small plant for such at one of the zoo's/animal parks. Thanks
