  1. At long last it's decided we're going with the taps to the wall. This will make the pump motor more inaccessible. The logic is that we will very likely need (want?) to replace the taps. The pump motor "might" give up. Access too is a big decider. Having gone to all the trouble to cast the pocket in the slab so the bath floor is level with the bathroom floor it seems silly to put taps in the way of swinging your legs over. Cost too is there as in we're going to use what we've bought! So this will be the final configuration: I've gone for one of the kits that make the taps easily removable. Basically a st/st boss fits into the bath then the tap(s) fit into that. With flexi pipe on the taps a quick Allen key job sees you lifting the taps out. You then add the adapter top part to the tap. Slip it over the bosses on the bath and tighten the Allen screw that engages with the groove on the boss: You can see how the flexi pipes will attach to the taps and pass up through the boss for removal: This shows the tap on the left with the adaptor and on the right "standard" they make the tap sit a bit higher overall by about 10mm: I had to enlarge the hole in the bath with my homemade "2 in 1" Starrett adapter, scary in case I slipped It's 2mm over on the OD: The main issue I have is where the adapter bosses sit. On the underside its not that level so there's gaps under the nut. So looks OK: But from another angle: Not sure on the fix.....cut some rubber for washers or just plenty of CT1 and leave to set? Cheers
  2. I pass my local one every day near enough. I think they were short staffed. There was one lad in trade with a customer and one on the main counter keeping an eye on some undesirables!
  3. Just used my £10 Electricfix voucher. Most unimpressed.....had to use the peasant's counter!
  4. I couldn't find specific maker's names on the main report or the individual test reports which to put it bluntly is the biggest cop out ever! You'll be forced to sift through ALL THE reports to see if the one you have matches it in looks for a start. Then as with so many of the Chinese made ones it might be a copy of a design with subtle differences or QA/QC procedures.
  5. USB enabled wall sockets.....worth a read. http://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/electrical-professionals/product-safety-unit/usb-socket-outlets/
  6. On Roger's last site PPE was more strictly enforced...
  7. Here you go, Legrand; top make. Link picked at random, have a look for Adorne / The Wave https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01IU7QLNY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481176776&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=legrand+the+wave&dpPl=1&dpID=21qlLscQEJL&ref=plSrch I can ask my Schneider wholesaler who I've been using for 30 years about it (and what discount )
  8. The DeWalt extreme stuff (cobalt?) seems pretty good when I borrowed a set. Not sure about the funny tip design on them though.....
  9. Nah, we're talking about these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-progressor-holesaw-set-9-piece-set/7904h or these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-progressor-holesaw-set-14-piece-set/7685h Usually with "Starretts" of whatever make (Starrett, Morse, Sandvik (Erbauer?) you need two different sized arbors but not with this Bosch design. Btw, you can remove the Bosch hole saw and fit other brands. Actually the odd Erbauer hole saw I've bought from Electricfix (check their clearance range) has been spot on. (Their 115mm / 1mm slitting discs are pony though).
  10. Touch & pretty: http://www.beamled.com/switches-and-drivers/led-dimmers-switches.html And fugly ones / better range: http://www.cpelectronics.co.uk/green-i/products/wall-mounted-pir-sensors-dimmers
  11. Looks great. What's the construction, is it insulated etc? What about splash "up"? I'd be more worried about that as it appears to sit quite low on the concrete slab. Rule of thumb is to have anything you don't want getting wet 6" above ground. It's why dpcs are where they are, historically something to do with the average height a rain drop bounces when it hits the deck I believe.
  12. +1 You NEED a set of these. Very impressed. A sparky mate I don't see very often enthused about them to me by chance and found I was already using them. Also grab a couple of Starrett pilot drills, the 1/4" HsCo ones. They'll go thru thick steel like I beams without a pilot a piece of pi$$. Morse brand hole saws are better IMO than Starrett. Impressed with the Bosch quick change hole cobalt saws though. A set of arrowhead tile drills. A couple of long series 5mm & 6mm HSS are good to have. Quick change bits do save a lot of time. Always use cutting compound on steel like RTD or Trefolex.
  13. You could multi-tool the slot in the floor board with the TRV a bit longer to give a bit more "give". The other valve looks like you'll get the 5 to 10mm with a bit of gentle flexing.
  14. £5 off when you spend ovef £40 at T'station http://www.voucherslug.co.uk/toolstation-codes?vid=3982152
  15. I was envisaging loosening and turning not removing. Chromed pipe and compression joints would look better!
  16. Found some old pics on a USB stick. The old wc where the wet room corner is now going and the doorway i blocked up where the new wall hung wc is going.
  17. Weren't those valves removed anyway to do the plastering then refitted? Just trying to figure how they'll screw into the rad without taking them off. Was wondering if you could spin those valves 90deg then put elbows on: http://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/store/category/1638/product/pg-044.aspx

  20. Wish they'd done my lounge.....some clown did the walls in hardboard on <25mm tile battens. The 35mm dry lining boxes used bow the walls out. At least they were good enough to finish it in woodchip!
  21. Been quite impressed with the Bosch 18V drill I bought for work recently. 67Nm which is a bit less than my main Makita which is eighty something Nm. The thing with the Bosch it that it's so short front to back.

  23. Different from the power tool business I think: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/about-the-appliance-industry/manufacturer-information/2742-aeg-domestic-appliances Techtronic Industries Company Limited (TTi) own the power tool side AEG and Milwaukee, Ryobi etc: http://www.ttigroup.com/en/our_brands/by_brand/aeg
  24. They were snowed in apparently.
  25. FFS don't go anywhere near AEG. My BiL had a "blue" one bought as end of range. Metal chuck, gears and feels solid, like it'd pass the "drop test"! This before production moved to China. On the strength of his I bought a new range "orange" AEG from Toolstation on offer. The moment I got it home I knew I'd made a mistake. It sounded like a bag of bolts, looked like a spark firing Christmas toy and felt like it was made from that bit of plastic left when all the biscuits in the tin have gone. Took it straight back the same day to be told I couldn't return it to them but that it had to go back to AEG. Apparently I should have been told this at the time of purchase. I suggested they play their CCTV back to show I hadn't been told. Being 6'5", hirsute and having a demeanour that makes small children burst into tears I got a refund. Went to S'fix next door, bought a Makita and haven't looked back.
