  1. Because of @MikeSharp01 's post I'm mulling whether in fact it would be possible to do similar but have falls on the underside all designed to suit the tiles. So I fill up / tamp through the holes. Love the detail with the plugs.
  2. Got it! Falls in the tray!
  3. Slab is 100mm all over if I lose the Polypipe former. Geberit wall drain should fit aok. "We" did discuss running the UFH up the walls in this area too!
  4. I'm struggling to see where the fall is tbh!
  5. Don't know if this helps: https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/45/paving_your_front_garden & https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/7728/pavingfrontgardens.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwiQ1Yiv59LSAhWCtRQKHV2JCyIQFgg9MAE&usg=AFQjCNGNz_cqYzJdzCjaCvCutHTua44jfQ
  6. So...are there falls in that?
  7. Tbh.....the original idea was a standard, round waste in the very corner i.e away from the UFH pipe. Then "someone" posted an all singing, all dancing job he'd done with the wall corner mitred and the shower controls set on that. Made the mistake of letting the missus see it etc, etc.
  8. This was discussed I'm sure on the old forum ref the "folly" of doing it or otherwise. I believe a second trap is one idea if it becomes a problem though if sited externally you have the issue of frost etc. I reckon I can get a strip of extra insulation in front of the drain.....
  9. Yep, UFH under the wet area. Wife likes it warm. Hoping as it's a wall drain going in the trap WON'T dry out!
  10. That's what I'm doing. Casting to falls to a linear wall drain. I've left a nom 1200 x 1200 hole in the slab but it has the Polypipe tray & A142 mesh there as well as the UFH pipes. Debating whether to remove the Polypipe former here to get a thicker slab. It'll be fun taking that out in pieces!
  11. Impey Aquadeck?
  12. Any idea of the efficiency of your design? I can possibly get working but scrap fan coil units on a regular 'ish basis. They get binned but it's usually just the bearings. Wonder if they could be put to use? Wonder though if there's any point in my "air leaky as a sieve" place!
  13. You made the heat exchanger, from scratch? Did you cannibalise something else?
  14. How do they work then? Is there some user programming involved? The ultrasonic beam I assume hits the surface of the oil but your tank could be 2' or 2m diameter.
  15. Never knew you could get them. You mean like this I guess: https://www.boilerjuice.com/watchman-sonic-tank-monitor/?gclid=CNvHnpLSz9ICFQMM0wodQloJGQ
  16. Friday night, get in looking forward to a beer and a takeaway. Wife pipes up "We've run out of oil!". Wouldn't be a problem short term if we had an immersion...but we don't. Lukewarm shower! So.....5 trips to the FiL and scrounge 125L of oil. Went to bleed at the fire valve (first) as always and just a few drips coming through? Undid the other side of the valve and full flow of oil! Managed to unscrew and found full of rusty crud and some milky stuff. Don't think it was meant to unscrew tbh. V.fine brass thread and sort of "punched" on opposite sides. Cleaned with the air line and de-crudded. Reassembled using Jet Blue Plus and bled at the boiler. All working.
  17. I do know that if you lay perfectly flat PIR and then keep walking over it for months it soon gets holed and the foil starts lifting. You then have to spend ages foam filling the damaged areas, cutting level when cured and re-foil taping to make good!
  18. What are the ones with the orange bellies you find when you say move an old water butt that it's been living under? NOT that I or anyone I know has ever done that.....
  19. Isn't a case of build the lake/pond & the GCNs will come?
  20. No ideas ref the planning but is it worth considering a water source heat pump whilst you're at it?
  21. There's quite a few videos on YouTube (mainly American I think) for DIY foam application. Kits as well as services offering it on eBay too.
  22. We've something similar. Chose a mixed berry hedge so there's something all year round for the birds.
  23. Does that extend to making the heat exchanger in the MVHR? Half serious question that, when I read the thread title I actually thought that's what you were up to.....and something I've wondered about myself.
  24. I see they quote a tolerance of 123 to 128mm. Just wondering how accurate their given measurements are? Not that it'd be an issue if it were me, I've had worse from Wickes bought new!
  25. I've been in @PeterStarck's place and it is without doubt the warmest, quietest, most draught free house I've ever been in. Sure a lot had to do with the spray foam getting into places rigid PIR just wouldn't. (To be fair it's the ONLY Passivhaus place I've been in).
